well for item - item u gotta have sum item that everyone would want
2nd wen they offer sumtin always try to ask for more if u think its a rip leave
if they dont add sumtin say sumtin like "w/e man its ur loss"
and always try to get the best deal

If you want something really bad just trade everything you have to get it.
and learn in trade games thats the best to learn from. Dont get discouraged or pissed if they laugh at you.most of em are like 4th graders anyway.

If you can't find a trader and your trading a good item for it, stay with the trading because someone will come along that will trade for a good item that they need.

Most people these days just want waaaay too much for anything; but there's always a descent trader out there.

If you have an MF char, spend some time doing MF runs and collect only the items that people seem to want to have. The more you have to offer, the more a trader will want to spend time bartering with you.

Its all about the attitude. The second you let them know you really want that item or deal, they get the upper hand. Be bussiness like and make deals. Also be patient. Sometimes you'll find things for half or less of their value by just keeping your eyes and ears open.

This is a little off topic but what is a 37ed + 7str jewel worth on Europe non-ladder soft core.. i have been trying to get the price for a weak now...

also, remember that some people just want to clear space on their mules. that means if they got somethin u want, they probly won't jus take everything u have. offer smaller items first sometimes, works for me.
