TCP/IP Gaming

I'm considering hosting games on my IP addy. I've noticed too often you go to join a game and everything has 6r. This would cut down lag (as I have DSL), but we'd need to keep in contact so people would know when to play or whatever.

This way you can play with people you talk to all the time on Battleforums, if there's any interest in this.

Reasons this would be better than Battle.net:

• Only people from Battleforums would know about this, so it would feel more like a close group of friends.
• Announcements would be made on a seperate forum section as to game times, etc.
• Games wouldn't lag as bad for people that normally lag.

I realize games initially lag if the players do, however I think if games were played via TCP/IP, or maybe IPX/SPX, the lag would be lessened, if not eliminated, as the connection can sometimes be more reliable than Battle.net.

Any comments on this?

Sounds like a good idea to me I connect at DSL too and most of the games I play usuall lag because of me connecting 20x faster than everyone else. I play with friends that connect at horribly low speeds over TCP/IP and they barely lag at all.

Good idea. But i have a 56k. I usually don't lag at all on bnet. Would i lag on TCP/IP. I play TCP/IP with Diablo II LOD and i don't lag at all. Would it be the same?

If anything, you should lag even less playing via TCP/IP if someone with a fast connection (like me) is the game host. =)

I wanted to post this because most of you all just sound like really cool people, and this would be a way of us all getting together at the same time and playing.

If anyone else is interested, I'm trying to make sure a few more people would be interested before I started hosting something like this.
