ALSO IF YOUR GOING TO VOTE, POST WHY.

The poll is just to keep who agrees with what, without searching the thread.

Me, being a moderator of chit-chat. Feels that the swearing rule should be a rule. There is no logic. If there is a swearing filter, why do we need a swearing rule? In one forum? I mean if it was a forum wide rule, it would be easier to follow. But its not. So people don’t even know there is one.

So I think its not effective. If your worried about parents seeing swears on the computer, I don’t think **** would alarm them. You know? Its also IMPOSSIABLE to go threw every single thread and find the swearing. Its like trying to find a needle out of a hay stack. Even with the other mods.

So Kami, almighty staff Im asking you to remove it. Please. From your fellow mod and one of the moderators in chit-chat. If you decide to keep the rule, I would ask that you come up with clearer rules on what’s swearing and what’s not.

So who’s with me?

LOL
swearing rule is bogus.. people swear because it is a rule... they dont like some mods who makes the rules so they break them to piss them off.. either be very strict about it.. or just take it out.. right now its pissing off both people.. the *swearer* and the *cleaner*..
*btw* i voted to remove it

Well, that will be resolved with the new swearing hack that will be installed, whenever avalon gets his fatass on the FTP.

As for the swearing rule, you know i'm all for removing it. I ****ing hate it.

The filter is the whole point of NOT making a rule. To say you can't write "****" is defeating the purpose of the filter. Either remove the rule, or remove the filter. Make some sense...

I think we're all mature enough to swear in moderation, and at appropriate times. Therefore i voted yes.

ok a lot of members swear and then get warned/temp banned/ perm banned for it , if they do it a lot. how does this look on battleforums? not so good... here's my idea.

i was looking in the new hacks that will be uploaded on battleforums and the swear one seems good. in the User CP there should be a check where u can click allow swearing on and off. It automatically is checked making it not allowed but an announcenment should be posted through the whole forums saying that u can uncheck it. This will enhance the forums to its fullest and i think attract more members ;)

Keep both the filter and the rule. I know a lot of kids browse the net with parental controls, and their pages won't load if there's swearing. I know my parents would have taken offense to a 12 year old seeing those words, and I'm sure others would to. I'm usually all for swearing, but with the age group of this forum, I personally am not for it.

That, and how bad do you really need to say fuck instead of ****?

And THAT is a good idea. I'd be all for a modification of that sort.

EDIT: Wow, I'm the only dissenting vote.

Seeing how a majority of the people are not for it, and Kamikaze looked right over this thread... I think its fair to say that the rule is removed. Unless of course Kamikaze has a REALLY good reason as why we shouldnt.

I voted for yes.

The filter + the rule makes no sense.

Maybe Kamikaze wants to create a list with all words that are not supposed to be used used in CC and the admins add those words to the filter.
i try to avoid the admins as much as possible... they bore the hell out of me:(

seeing as how it's only been two days since this thread was started and i work 12 hours a day as opposed to the 5 hours you go to school, i think i have a very good reason to miss threads every so often.
as for the rule, you can stop warning people, but bypassing the filter and excessive swearing, ie. swearing more than 4 times in one post will still be a warnable offense.
sound good to you?

p.s. c9h13no3 has a keen grasp of the situation, unlike some of the other mods.

lmao. I have 6 hours + football(3 hours) + homework (1-2 hours)= Just about how much time you have.

Yes. I just don’t think warning people for throwing in a **** (hehe) should be warn able. I also agree bypassing the filter should be warn able. But not asterisks(sp?)

No. The rule was bogus from the start. I warned people for it, like you said. Then I thought to myself "hmm should asterisks, be a warn able offense?". Then I said- No. Its idiotic, to warn someone for it. The pole also shows most of the staff are not in favor.

That's what this is about and not the swearing filter.
