Hello to all, just a few quick questions about protecting myself from being hacked on d2...

I've now been hacked twice in the past 2 weeks [I wont elaborate on this, as I have already stated this in the thread of Max blockage with eld'd ss...]

Just wondering what everyone does to protect themselves against the f^cking bruteforcers and other hacks like that BS....is there anything a person really can do to protect them self here on d2? Being hacked is my #1 reason for leaving diablo [everytime i leave] and this time will likely be no differant, unless well....well I'm not sure, just wondering if I am totally missing something about hack provention or is it just a part of playing d2.

Also, I've been told by a few friends to make a "back up account" with more than mules, so incase my main acct gets hacked, i will still have 'some' shit, but does that work? Afterfall, if they used spyware they have all my account pw's right?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.... still in the mood to duel duel duel.... ^^

Peace - - - Fiya

Just don't download any third party programs or give your password out. VERY Simple.

make sure ur password is not something anyone would guess. other than that and avoiding third party progs, u just need some common sense so ppl dont trick u into things.

one that nobody mentioned, is to NEVER give out the email you signed your accounts auto recovery up with...

oh and make your password a combo like "5r3e45ks" or something, and brute force progs wont get it.

for more info, there's a thread about this, see it here: http://battleforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17576

dont fall for scams, like /dnd password: 123456 account: blahblahblah dont download any program that is being given to you or spamed on bnet always look in the stickies in the modification forums for stuff like map hack. Clean computer, could be a trojan. key loger, I think there are links in the newbies only section, always upgrade firewalls/anti-intrution programs, Never ever accept links for anything on bnet from anyone. There is no such thing as a free item website so dont even try. Do not sign up on a website with diablo players with the same account as bnet or do not use same password. Never give password out. Never give out e-mail account on bnet. (they can hack that password) dont hand out e-mail account and pass for anyreason. hmm think thats good enough, I fallow all this and I have never been hacked in 2 years now.

EDIT: there are no bnet codes like /f list, that will show you pvp stats, or any other kind of stat. Do not type anything that requiers you to type a password at all. Make password hard, and never type it unless it is the log in page.

Norton is *okay*. It did a really good job this year of stopping stuff I'd download off Kazaa and IRC. However, you're correct in that it catches almost 0 trojans. You really need a trojan scanner. Blizzard has a link to a free one on their site somewhere.

Or you could just be like me, and not download hax :).
