Pretty much something weird happened recently. There have been no problems with my video card until I installed the newest Sims 2 expansion, and after doing so, something strange happens. The game usually starts out just fine, then after a while it just craps out. The game freezes, and it ceases to play. If I try to start it up, it just gives an error saying I might not have the newest directx version (I have the correct version) and I should contact the manufacturer of my video card. Restarting the computer allows me to start up the game again.

I can try to get the error again to get the exact context, but this has never happened before. I was able to play the sims just fine until I installed the new expansion. I have no idea what is wrong with my video card; it should be able to run the game just fine. If you want more specs, I can include more pictures.

is the game locking up? sound repeating? black screen? give us some more info on whats going on :S

also check to see if your graphics card is a supported version for hte game, if not, then that could be ur problem, perhaps it worked with regular sims2 but the xpan might have changed things that it dont like

do all other programs/games work fine?

I know my card can handle it, and all that happens is that the game turns into a blue screen and you get an error. All my other programs worked fine.

im not saying it cant handle it, ims aying its not supported, theres some things that just DONT work with certain elements.

question: have you reinstlaled the game? thats always a step to take in probelms with programs.

anyways, google is your friend [and to alesser extent, the sims official website...]

Problem: My game starts out normally but sometimes during gameplay, i do a sudden movement such as rotate or save the game stops and the screen turns to that popular sim light blue and the hour glass starts. i can always tell when its about to happen because it stalls for a few secs then the screen comes up. i can still hear music in the background (if i had it on) and it continues on normally. sometimes the game continues after 5-10mins or even worse it turns completely black and the screen flickers off and on which makes me have to manually shut the computer down.

Answer: Ok try this goto the start menu type in %TEMP% and delete everything in the folder. It's only a temp folder it is ok I do this every other day. If this does not help contact me on yahoo.
my screen name is dragonsblood1225.
