Long time I haven't any problems running Diablo 2 Exp. but now always get an error message when I insert a Diablo CD.
The First message offers me, to insert the CD, which is already in the drive.
Pressing OK always leads to the same message, and after pressing Abort the 2nd time, I get a strange message saying something like this (tried to translate it from german):

Setup was unable to read the following file. Maybe the CD was not in the drive.
setupdat\setup.vis
Error 0x000000002: The System was unable to find the requestet file.
(F:\D2\Tools\DiabInst\Source\Script.cpp:120=)

Installation Aborted.

The CDs are in good condition without any scratch.

Maybe anyone has an Idea. Didn't find any solution in the net.

My system:
Win2k Prof. SP4
Pentium 4, 3.0 GHz
512 mb Ram
128 mb Nvidia Gforce 5700U
Plextor DVD Drive
160 Samsung HD

Thanks a lot!

Thanx

Thank you.

Yes, the game will start if I use the icon.

But it's strange. I have uninstalled the game completely, but the problem remains.

For installing I have to start via setup.exe.

But the CDs are all ok.
A few days ago, I started the game without any problem
but suddenly,
I have the Diablo pack 2 times, but none of the eight CDs will work...
very strange.

I remember having the problem long ago, but after a complete new system setup it worked again without any error
and I wonder, which kind of changes I could have done in my system to cause this problem.

sure, You're right

but such a problem always forces me to search for the cause and maybe find a solution...

maybe inquisitiveness or only some kind of curiosity, if you want so

:)

lol
Suddenly it works again without problems

I put the CD inside and the AutorunScreen starts without error.

Crazy.
I would like to know what I've done...

After the error I uninstalled the game
but the error remained
and then I installed it again...

And then due to a problem with another game I changed the driver for the Hyper Threading CPU from ACPI Multiprocessor PC
to ACPI-PC
and now...

it works...

I wonder if it works only because of the reinstallation...
or even because of the CPU driver change...
