how i find my cdkey again in counterstrike halflife?

cause steam keep asking for my original cd and the cdkey and i got this cdkey from my friend but i have a halflife cd but it came with different key would steam still work?

- Click RUN in your Start Menu.
- Type in REGEDIT and hit ENTER.
- Open the HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Valve > Half-Life/Counter-Strike > Settings folder.
- Find the entry called "key", double-click it, and copy it down.

Then your friend must be using his CD key. You need to get yourself your own CD key by buying yourself a copy of Half-Life.

ya but he stopped playing since steam came out so now i cant play for sure because he registered his cdkey with them already?!?!!
