Steam down?

Their homepage is down and I can't connect to Steam ... either it says "Try later" or it simply turns itself off

They're probably updating Steam for LAN. It's gonna be a BIG update.

They said that the update was completed 9am PST

They always update on Wednesdays.

There must've been some problems...

I just downloaded the update (took a couple tries) and Steam seems to be working fine...

EDIT:

I'm trying to play CS, though, and it seems to be stuck on "Preparing to play"... the monitor is busy, so it might be downloading some sort of update.

You can log into steam? For me after i downloaded the update and enter my password, it says either my connection is not working or steam is down.

Steam is whack, but how else will i play dod & cs, etc.

Ok heres the problems:

It will not work, it will just stay there then say game is not avalible.

keep trying though it will work soon, my friend done it about 1 min ago and worked for him


2. Cant log on?
Its because the site it down, when www.steampowered.com is up then try log on it will work

hey i dled the update and when i try to long into my account is says" account not vailed iv tryed everthing i could think of but nuttin helps at all

all these problems are most likely a result of many users world wide connecting to a single set of servers to download the update.

Yeah, that's exactly what it was. Because of the size and the effect of the update, the servers were overloaded. See Erik Johnson's news post here.
