Is static field a good skill for the sorc to use... if so what does it do?

1 if the most versatile skills ull definetely need it takes monsters down to half health in 2 seconds that includes bosses like meph an baal

put 1 in it. all it does in higher lvl is higher range of casting... and u will surely get some + to skills so it will grow itself. on normal it brings enemys down 25% for ever (not 4x kill but 25% each time) on nightmare it goes max to 25% of unit like on hell it can only bring creature down to 50%. but it goes real fast. no matter what creature 2/3 sec hes down to 50%
1 skill lvl enough though

when it is down does it stay down???

like if I went to meph in nm and used it acouple times he would be down 25% of his health?

ACtually. ..
I made a sorc specifically with static maxed out along with TS and NOVA and LM.

Static isn't PERMENANT dmg, but rather it does do it, if the moster has hp regen then it will go up.

1pt in it is enough as plus to skill items should do the rest. I have a lvl 36 static and hit shit off the screen!

And it goes down to like 5% in normal, 25% in nm and only 50% in hell.
