why would you use fort? ed% doesnt help smite. coh or enigma would be a better choice. draculs grasp would be a better choice for gloves because of the lifetap.

ed% does help smite.

coh would not be needed unless u're that desperate for resists.

drac's has only 5% ctc life tap. u're better off with 20% ias gloves with CB. if u need life tap to win, then u should seriously consider remaking. dependence on curses is a weakness, not a strength.

Don't you wanna know
u need about 125% ed to see your smite do an extra 1 or so dmg. at 500% u get around 4-5 extra dmg. so unless you're cranking hacked jewels and items from open, ed does not help smite.

as for the gloves, if u have enough ias already to hit the bp then go for a blood fist because of the nice stats. if u already have max fhr then go for the gloves with cb.

ever heard of display errors? wow, grief doesn't seem to add any dmg, maybe i shouldn't use it!

i notice a substantial dmg boost when i put on my fortitude. this is not shown in the dmg display, btw. i tested it on cows. that's the kind of testing that u ppl need to start doing instead of just reading numbers.

What works with Smite? version 1.10

By Oramin and Bloodshrike, et al
Based on Oldman’s Throwsmiter guide

The following things work with Smite:

Bonus damage from STR (new for 1.10)
+Skills (increase damage a LOT)
Crushing Blow (including CB on the weapon; e.g. “Black†runeword)
Weapon range (see below)
Weapon speed (see below)
Life Tap (charges can be found on wands and daggers, save this for tough spots)
Freezes Target (including from the weapon; e.g. Sureshrill Frost)
Hit Blinds Target (From all gear, including the weapon and the shield)
Slow (including from the weapon; e.g. Pompeii’s Wrath)
% Chance to cast (including from the weapon)
Prevent Monster Heal
Open Wounds (new for 1.10)

The following things work with Smite but do *not* display on the Character screen:

Enhanced Damage from which is off-weapon (thanks to Grimble for bringing this to my attention; thanks to Mikeandroe for helping test) (new for 1.10)
Enhanced Damage to Demons/Undead (e.g. Laying of Hands) *should* work, but has *not* been tested
The following items increase the shield damage: Redeemer, Astreon’s Iron Ward, Stone Crusher, “Grief†runeword (Redeemer confirmed by Stopherson) (new for 1.10)

Damage +X, which is the attribute that the above items have, is added directly to the shield damage just like the Holy Shield bonus. This means that any %ED bonuses which work with Smite will apply (e.g. Fanaticism). Thanks to Mikeandroe for helping test.

The following things do not work with Smite:

Leech (life/mana)
Deadly Strike
Knockback (apart from the standard Knockback on the skill)
Elemental damage from equipment or charms
Elemental damage from auras (e.g. Holy Shock)
Gear and charms that add a set amount of damage (verified by SSJPunk) *except* for the items noted above that have the Damage +X attribute
Enhanced Damage on the weapon
my point has been proven.

by substantial u mean how much more dmg then?
300% of my total base smite dmg sounds about right. i was actually a zealot using grief with a 1 pt smite, so the dmg difference was clearer since i did much lower dmg than a pure smiter. my dmg without fortitude was calculated to be about 3616, and the dmg increased by fortitude was calculated to be about 1398, which is 38.66% of my smite dmg without fortitude, and totals to 5014. the dmg tested on cows reflected that increase.

edit: removed a statement that made it more confusing.

ok, i noticed that i never answered the first post lol...

gear, i choose:
Fortitude over CoH
upgraded HoZ over Exile
Grief over Doom
i doubt u'd have (or should have) enough str for Steel Rend, so i suggest Bloodfist, or crafted IAS gloves with CB.

if u need a large amount of resists for a particular duel, chances are, u won't be needing defense and dmg reduction. u can drop the CoA for an Um'ed Kira's Guardian, which gives up to 85% resist all. against casters, u usually won't need a huge amount of dmg either, so u can try using pgemmed shields.

i meant that the 1.4k dmg increase will be a lot less compared to a smiter's 8k dmg than to a zealot's 3.6k dmg. u'll still get the same big dmg boost, but percentage-wise, it seems less.

as i've mentioned before, fort adds a lot of dmg regardless of what the dmg display reads. it's odd that u use steel rend but not fort. everything else looks fine, though the str reqs are a little high for my taste.

Can somone give a non-ladder poor guide plz? ((item wise that is))
how poor do u want it? good melee pvp chars are always very expensive. a poor setup will only get u that far in performance.
