i played classic in 1.09

i still have mules of dupes and whatnot for nl...heh

now that 1.10 has come out, im guessin either a blizz sorc or a hammerdin would pwn, but if you have no gear, make a summon necro, they can always do good at keeping u alive and doing stuff w/ no gear (ill be it there slow as **** though)

keep in midn that mercs cant lvl or wear gear, so dont invest in one...also, last time i checked, cows and cs runs were the best way to lvl in classic...

A Barb might suit you then. Immunities can be ignored with a barbarian since they have great physical damage and they can also use beserk in case you have any physical immunes. :D

kk, ill share all my knowledge with you, gear wise, and character wise (seeing how im about the only person that played classic as my primary diablo version)
*everything here is dated, since i played in 1.09*

from my experience, the best type of character to make when noob, would be a summoner, the immunes dont effect his summons, and even with crap gear he can manage most areas (slowly, but he still can)

the best way to lvl would be cows and cs, usin ga barbarian with the highest bo you can get, a blizzard sorc, a lightning sorc, a hammerdin (guessing since 1.10 is out), a javazon, and a summon necro w/ corpse explosion.

honestly i would use a barb since ur a (noob???) im not sure on that noob part but if u are i would use a barb because they are the easiest to manage and they lvl quick and everyone likes them for the bo !!

i dont suggest making a pally. no enigma or hoto. no hoz. the whole effect of the paladin is to teleport and do high amounts of damage. a sorc might do good. you could use some of the normal mfer gear except for occy. a sorc might be very good too.

I wouldnt recommend a barb. With none of the high level uniques/runewords, you'll be reliant on whatever rares you can find. I'd make a sorc of some sort because they can do thousands of damage with totally shit gear, which is what youll have in classic, especially just starting out.

barb is not a good idea for a first character. because of the fact that you have no gear for him, means his damage will suck.

i honostly suggest your first character being a summon necro, then moving up to a sorc, then having a barb being made naer the end...
