Okay, somethings wrong with the terrain editor.

If you do more then edit 1 single tile... you corrupt the map.

For instance... I'll go and select the pallete thing and select like a nice peice of grass that makes it look perfect and do the whole map....

or i'll spend hours doing designs and such.....

then I'll save and open in XTRA and it's invalid it says....

so i'm like omg no

so i open in starcraft and it says no briefing data

then it shows a black screen then either crashes starcraft or goes back to the main menu saying "bad scenario" or something

What's wrong with starforge?

This will even happen if i change terrain on an existing map or something (without even placing any units/triggers... just soley modifying tile)

Using starforge 1.0.2

1.0.2 haven't totally been fixed to be compatible with other Staredit programs like SCXE.
To make the map playable save the map under, Final Broodwar (.scx)
Go to file, click on save as, then under, file type, use: Final Broodwar (.scx)
I think if you place a player 14 + unit, it will make the screen completely black when you play it in SC. You cannot exit it, it will just stay black, so you must restart your computer.

1. Post problems on my forums.

I (and many others) have used StarForge to do lots more than edit a single tile, and have had no problems with compatibility.

You probably have something in the map that is broodwar-only, and saved it as hybrid.

Also, placing units for many of the players between 13 and 44 will crash Starcraft.

I had this problem before, and I know how to get by it. When you save your map, you have to save it in the same extension you began with. So if you're editing an SCX, you have to save it as an SCX; and likewise for SCM. Try that and see if it works. :)

I always just save it as SE .scx. Just always do that, because SF doesn't detect if a unit is broodwar only. Saving it as the wrong type will make it not playable/openable.

Don't do briefings for your map until the very end of it, otherwise SF will screw it up. I'm not sure, but if you save it as a Final .scx it might not screw up the briefings, but I'm not sure.

All currently available versions will strip the briefings from the map. I missed a line of code, and it'll be fixed in the next version (which comes out tonight).
