After countless hours of searching, I finally found my Starcraft installation CD. Well... a copy of my Starcraft installation CD, at least. I installed Starcraft, installed Brood Wars, and then ran the game. Unfortunately, it wouldn't even start. It would appear to start, but then nothing would happen.
I then downloaded the patch online from Blizzard's website. I installed it and then ran the game. Much to my delight, it ran fine. I watched the introductory videos just for the heck of it. Ah, what great graphics! Immediately, I clicked Multiplayer and connected to bnet. I disconnected (I didn't really feel like playing at the time) and went about my business.
My little sister was trying to connect later that day. She yells at me, "Ryan, Starcraft's not connecting! What'd you do?" so I climbed up from my comfortable half-slumber on the couch and went to the computer to fix the problem. Now, as soon as it begins connecting and reaches the "Accessing Account" stage (the last one, I believe), the game crashes to the desktop. It now does that every time I connect and I can't seem to fix it. I was thinking it was a firewall problem or something, but that didn't make much sense... I don't have any firewalls enabled on my computer and the built-in Windows XP firewall is disabled (I actually disabled the service using the services.msc utility).
Any ideas as to how I can fix this? I really wanna play Starcraft...
