... I think this is another n00b question but
"Why do cannons freeze?"

Once the map gets bust to a point, like in the Turret M Defence maps, that increase spawning as they go, there is too much to keep up with. So some of the actions of the map shutdown, the first being your weaponry.

Sux, but nothing you can do about it. Think of it as a way to end a stalemate situation.
