I had to change a map a few times due to the way newbies were crying about its difficulty and because of piling issues. I misshappenly stumbled upon a way to get square terrain without going into yet another editor.

I used SCM toolkit. I resized the map to a proper editor size (MUST do this for the map to work in Staredit or SCXE). I loaded up Staredit afterwards. Placing terrain then caused it to be square (old warcraft 2 style, not the Starcraft square). Try out my method if you want to; maybe it'll work for you.

What the hell is he saying?

Heres the translation my little brain conjured up:

I had a map OMFG the firebats. the map had been resized so it wasn't normal sized (64x64, 96x96 etc) so i opened it in scm tooklit and resized it. then when i tried to edit it these "rectangular (not square)" tiles appeared and replaced the normal tiles. My map got smaller and was easier to play on b.net.

MY GOD KID WHO CARES???

You have the be the only person who doesn't even know how to turn on and off square terrain...

Actually, I'm saying that this is how I got some square terrain to work using SCM Toolkit and normal staredit. I'm not asking for help, but instead suggesting another possible way of doing it.

And no, I'm not the only person who doesn't know how to do it; I get asked a lot about how to do it when I play a map with square terrain. So jeez, unless want me to start flaming you about how you have no life for posting that many times in that short of time, please have some respect. I'm trying to help people here, and if you don't have any help to offer and would just instead throw crap at my ideas, then go to another board and do it to somebody else.

And btw Matrix, sorry. I enjoy writing. I edited it and made it into something shorter and more comprehendable.

I think it might be--but SCMDraft is the best map corrupter around, so I tend to avoid it. I think GUEdit might be able to do it--but hey, why use an extra editor when you don't need to. Thats the whole point of this post really--just to show another possible way of square terrain.

GUEdit does square terain perfectly well. and it's not hard to use.
SCM Toolkit should not have done this, it may be a bug in the program (you might want to alert the maker)
SCM Draft makes them very easily and does NOT corrupt maps.

they fixed the problems in alpha, beta has a big messup bug in it.

If you don't have alpha, i trust someone knows a link to a site with it and can share it with those who are unlucky enough not to have it.
