I know it's been out for yonks, but it came out in Aus last Thursday and i saw it last night. I actually really enjoyed it. I can understand why critics wouldn't like it, it's pretty random.
I really liked the cartoony feel to it, the visuals were stunning and it was all so colourful, which was a nice change from the mainstream. Oh, and Trixie is hot, she's my dream woman.

What'd you guys think?

i found it good if your in the mood to turn off your brain and enjoy some hardcore special effects, not many movies with that level of CG

I got really, really high and played Rainbow road on Mario kart for 2 hours, and got more out of that than speed racer.

hahahahaha classic pan.

I personally loved speed racer. I love the wachoskie brothers.

I went with my father who grew up with speed racer and he really loved Snake Oiler. (it was his favorite character and favorite episodes)

I LOVED how the story played out with greed and "religion."

Favorite part of the movie: When one of the viking racers flipped his car with a giant flail coming out the back and tried to destroy whoever he was trying to.... his face and the slow mo were perfect.,

SIDE NOTE: My sig picture was taken after view Speed racer... can you see the enjoyment?

F-Zero's is more... interesting.

It felt like F-Zero to me. It was an odd movie, thats all I can say. And besides, critics shouldnt be trusted that much. They usually give bad reviews so they can spice up thier paper. It's all about how many people go to the theater to watch it, and how much money it makes to compensate for the budget.

Look at Adam Sandler films, the critics mostly hate EVERY single one of them. But he rakes in about double-triple the budget, which makes it financaly sucessful.

But there are some films, like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, which are OK, but they dont exactly make the budget they require. Hell, this film was one reason why Squaresoft got bought by Enix.
