well...

i've been trying to extract the sound files that comes with StarCraft.

however... it's unsuccessful.

don't i just create some random map... extract a bunch of
sound files from the mpq's then save the map?

then.. i can then export those sounds to a directory?

or... am i doing something wrong?
(ok... obviously, i am doing something wrong cuz i can't find
the sound files using SCXE even after i saved the
extracted sounds in a map editted under SF or SCMDraft)

help?

You can import StarCraft's sounds by:

For this you need StarForge. This will let you put size-less sounds into your map.

(1) Browse through the StarForge sounds and add one from the mpq.
(2) Use the triggers in StarForge to incorporate the sounds into your map
(3) THESE SOUNDS DON’T SHOW UP IN Starcraft X-tra Editor.

The way it works is it loads sounds from the mpq. So instead of playing real sounds it plays them from your Starcraft mpq. These sounds don’t show up in Starcraft X-tra Editor because it doesn’t recognize these types of sounds. You could use SCMDraft for this.
