Well, we all have noticed by now that, since the wonder that is 1.11 which we have all come to know and love came out, there has been a desertion by the old elite players of D2, and everything has become infested with new players who bought their characters online and jumped into the fray, sporting their uber chars, thinking it gives them license to call everyone else in the game a noob. Is it just me? I can't find a decent baalrun anymore. There are, like, pre-run games they people make, everyone parties up, then everyone just leaves the game. The rare ruins that actually kill the minions contain mostly people who don't have a clue how to play the game save for the good old "tele on top of enemies and spam hammers" technique, and because they bought a charachter that someone else spent months making into an "uber" character, they think they are the hottest shit in the market. I've seen the word "n00b" more in the last month than I ever did during the entire 1.10 ladder. No wonder all the old skool players are gone, I don't blame a single one of them. Now, the question I pose is this: Is there anything in the darkest regions of anyone's imagination that we, and indeed ALL decent D2 players, could do to in some small way begin to change some of this? I mean, back in the good old 1.10 baaling days, everyone helped the runner/tele-er in any way possible, and tried to help people who's characters died in SC. Now, the second the runner dies, the game is exited by everyone, and the runner, who is likely a high level once you get into hell, is out by x amount of XP, all for trying to help everyone else level. I could go on forever, but I'll stop now. If anyone has any ideas, I am all ears.

Just the like real world the gap between the rich and poor grows. In D2 less people are willing to help unless it's beneficial. I have never truely been a rich player. I've had good characters in 1.09 and 1.10 but nothing completely elite, I couldn't even trade all of my items now for an "uber" build for one single character but I play because I love the game, it gives me a sense that the game can't be beaten, because you can always find more items, always help someone, always be better and I honestly think if I was rich I'd get bored fast and lose interest.

Some cheese with your whine, sir?

D2 is just like everything else in life. IT'S NOT PERFECT. There's always going to people that complain about every little thing.

NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, YOU'RE A NOOB!!!
- My items are better than yours. You're a noob.
- Your items are better than mine. You're an ebay newb.
- I can't level up because these nubes don't know how to baal run.
- These noobs are only high level because they sat thru fast baal runs doing nothing.
- Wow, this newb went online and looked up a cookie-cutter build.
- Omg, this nube is trying some crazy build that can't even solo hell baal.
- Some noob offered me ist for my Tal's ammy.
- This newb won't even take my ist for his Tal's ammy.
etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc...............

THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH EVERY ASPECT OF THE GAME!!!
- It sucks that the old, experienced players aren't here anymore.
- It's great that we have fresh, new players to take over.
- These new runewords suck, they make the game too easy.
- Thank God we have these runewords to help us through this terribly hard game.
- (Character) is the worst dueler, it sucks.
- (same Character) is too over-powered, he needs to be nerfed.
etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc...............

No matter what they adjust, people will still complain about the flaws they perceive. And that's fine, because we all have have opinions. If you honestly think it sucks that bad, then don't play it. But I think the reason we complain, or even come to this site to discuss it, is because deep down we all love it so much!

As far as how to tailor the game to YOUR needs... Instead of discussing ways of us improving the quality of play on the realms, why not simply round up people on here to play private games. (Just being realistic). I'm sure a few people on here would be down with some trusted baal runs.

In fact, if you play useast hcl, I have a small group going already (which includes 2 BF members). We give rushes and free items quite often.

Somebody said that to me before. I gave out my items, deleted my chars, and started playing nez mod. Nez mod has more diversity in one CHARACTOR than the "real" patch has in all it's classes combined. It's funny like that.

What's nez mod?

- Omg, the noob doesn't know about nez mod!
- Pfft, only newbs use nez mod!
:p

It's a modified version of D2. Full name is "Nezeramontias". I like how diverse it is, and "Cookie Cutters" would all have their weaknesses, along with their strengths. It's a lot of fun.

Well said, well said, but the purpose I had in mind with this post was to see who would agree and who would say otherwise, and another purpose was also to see if anyone was interested, as you said, in forming some sort of gaming group or the like. Unfortunately, I am on uswest, but I have not yet ventured into HC play, I always went back to my scl chars. If I decide to go HC, which I would very much like to try, may I look you up?

I found that if you are on Bnet and make your own game, not expecting help, or company for that matter, things work to your advantage a bit more. I personally don't go on to another act, quest, or difficulty unless I am confident I can do it solo. If others join and help, great, if not oh well.

Besides that, I surround myself with friendly, knowledgable, and helpful players. We together help each other out, and go out of the way to make sure they are ok. I give everyone the benifit, but when you are constantly asking for gear, rushes, and help from a pker you mouthed off to ... I toss ya to the side. If you want everything and give nothing in kind, I see you as a leech and worthless to me when I play.

These terms Noob, Leet, ect are overused to such a degree, that the meaning of the term is actually lost. IMO it's all about frame of mind. I find the ones that spam such and such are leet and so and so are noob, have yet to experience matureity, and short hairs. If you feel you are leet good for you, but what do you gain from announcing it to the rooms? These same people are the one that have a lvl 80+ pking others trying to get to the lvl 24 mark, but when they get pked bitch and moan or run like a child. I have been playing on and off since .09 and I still consider myself a noob.

BFH by the way what ever happened to the gear I gave you? You still use it, or did you give it away like I did?

I haven't played a day past the 36k ban day, so I wouldn't really know.

When the new ladder comes out, I want to try to get the old players on battleforums to play together, think of it as our 'last season we play' sort of deal. I want us to leave a mark on the ladder, and show the kids that suck what diablo is all about.

When the new ladder comes out, I want to reach the top, as I almost did this time before I got banned. I want to pull out all the stops, and do it right. Have one of each class plus an extra sorc, to trade off teleporting duty. I want to reach the top, and not use any hacking programs while doing it. I'm missing diablo since I quit (or got banned), and I'm sure there are other oldies that are missing it too.

We need some of the oldies back (cota, sweaty, guru, dragn, cm, etc.)

Sweaty was up there on the ladder for a week or two even after the ban, just to let ya all know how high he got in that short time, that didn't get to see it.

heh...

cota: wont be coming back, hes hellbeng on "diablo is newb"
sweaty: has resurfaced in the d2 world, gets on fairly regularly with me
guru: no clue
Dragn: ive been back for about a month now, doing quite well to tell the truth (already got a nearly completed hammerdin, need hoz and soj)
CM: No clue

anways, i think its funny that this guy is talking about all the oldschoolers tha tquit, and thinsk that 1.10 is the "good ol' days" lol...i played 09 (classic) and imo it was much much better. 1.10 was the downfall of diablo.

ive beens urprised though, since 1.11 came out ive noticed a LOT of new people show up, that dont know anything about 1.09 or previous patches, and seem to only have knowlege in 1.11, which amuses me...

sweaty hit lvl 91 with his druid, he left his mark for about 2 months, not just 2 weeks.

I'm on a few hours a day, atleast every other. The only one from BF who i'll even play with is ocassionally Guru, I used to play with all kinds of people sweaty, khull, swordtip, jd, jason, roach but I basically solo with the exception of 2 people I made friends with on bnet and we help eachother out rarely that's all, quite boring to play alone.
