I'm just, er, to be nice, pissed that Chit-Chat is essentially filled up with "noise". If I was using a proper newsgroup client and BattleForums was a newsgroup, I'd be able to filter out this noise, but I can't.

What does it have to do with "Chit-Chat" anyway? It merely looks like a bunch of threads you say, "Good thread +1" to. It has to have some usefulness and usefulness has to do with the context of the thread - where it's located.

I'm sure my appreciation merits no points and therefore no iPod but I think you are better off trying to either 1) Getting the Tech Forum back for your threads; 2) Making one large thread of technical advice; or best of all, 3) Stop labelling contest posts as contest posts. It's almost as bad as the rule "Don't get Staff to look at your posts" - when the threads simply scream out for attention.*

hey im all for the tech forum coming back...i sat for like 20 minutes last night going "hm....chit chat aint where this needs to go..."

and the "screaming of attention for +1 point" isnt really for tha tintention at all, its for my own records...im keeping track of everything i do.

Besides, the problem with tech help online via forums is: IT is either some dumb straight forward answer the person tried, or overlooked. Or the people who communicate don't know what they are talking about or vice versa.

Or in this case, exploiting Contest Points for an iPod.

However, sometimes it would be a good idea having a Tech Forum. As long as the user posts information about the problem and not be too vague. And that the people trying to solve the problem don't go all OMFG UNINSTALL REINSTALL.

The majority of his points came from blog posts that directed to BF, definitely not his posts.

All points are inserted manually, so there really isn't any way for people to 'cheat' the contest. I have to approve every time.
