.. But I'm getting the XPS 630 from Dell, seeing as a 1000 W power supply from the 730 would give me a good electric bill. Got it for 700, but in any case, any thoughts about these gaming PC's and the other models, 720 and 730 from Dell? If anyone owns one. Just curious to start up some convo's ~

You should just build your own. But if you want to waste money go ahead.

I recommend you not do this unless you want to worry about all the preventive maintenance yourself. Basically if you do something wrong to one part, it could cost you your whole computer.

Besides computers have gotten so cheap now that the only reason people still build their own computers is because they enjoy it and get fulfillment out of it.

No, you can still build a computer cheaper than what it would cost for a pre-built one from a major retailer. You'll end up have to buy a video card anyways since most use integrated.

And building a PC isn't that hard. If a cable or part isn't supposed to be put into something it wont go in.

It isn't that building a computer is difficult but it requires knowledge of each part and how to handle it (ie putting thermal paste/clay on the CPU wrong) and sometimes a small mistake can lead to a larger problem down the road. In most cases like I said, unless you are interested in tinkering with computers and want to worry about maintenance, then building a computer isn't really for you.

Well I got it refurbished for 800 and it's a really REALLY good computer, so I think I got a good deal myself.

If by "really REALLY good" you mean upper end of "budget PCs" then I agree.

Why? Seriously. I have a 3 year old ~800$ at the time Dell that I use for EVERYTHING and it works absolutely fine and glorious. The only thing I've added since buying it was more ram. And trust me when I tell you that when I'm working or doing music shit, my computer will be taking a lot more proverbial hits to it than what you guys use with yours.

People who spend so much goddamn money on computers make me sick. There's literally no reason to spend over 1500 on a computer, unless you wanna rhomp around with your e-peen because you have such a badass computer.

Putting thermal paste on wrong just think paper thin... Err I never heard of this I don't think anyone buys pre made computers anymore they either build them their selves or get some shop to do it for them. It's rare that fucking up one part will fuck up every part. I bent the pins on a cpu once by popping it out with the heatsync that it was stuck too. Sent it back saying it was damaged in shipping and they replaced it.

And if your really that concerned with the thermal paste just buy a heat sink with it pre-applied. That's what I did so I didn't have to screw around with it.
