SMTP server...

Okay, I want to start PHP and I am pretty confused. To install it, they want me to tell them my SMTP server... what is it and how can I find mine? Thanks.

SMTP is an email protocol. You don't need an SMTP server to install PHP. You don't even need to install PHP to learn PHP. Just find a server that has it installed and you can test stuff there.

Search for foxserv, get 3.1 its quick install, has php,mysql,perl,apache,phpmyadmin all packed into it, and did i mention it was easy?



One problem you'll have INSTALL TO C:\EASYSERV OR YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS IN YOUR CONFIG

lol @ MacMan. SMTP is what your isp uses for sending outgoing email, although I think it can be used for incoming mail too I just know mine is smtp out and pop3 in. Some 1337 H4XX0R

hostultra, for one offers php but no mysql dbs. if you want to get serious i would suggest using that foxserv for now cause it has mysql in it. if you need any help with php feel free to pm me
