Smiter paly

i have been thinking about making a smiter paly. i know wat skills to train it's just i dont know what items to use. someone told me i should use a barbed shield, gnasher, soj, manald, gtoe, 114life helm, twitch, bloodfist, and +2 life ammy. does that sound good? any suggestions for different items?
