Smiter Build

In 1.11 with the Uber Trist area, the Smiter build has become the most popular build as of late.

What I present to you is a few variations on the Smiter build, and some options on what to do with the left over skills you may have.

Skills:
Combat Skills:
Smite - 20
Holy Bolt - 1
Charge - 1
Holy Shield - 20

Offensive Skills:
Might - 1
Blessed Aim - 1
Concentration - 1
Fanaticism - 20

Defensive Skills:
Defiance - 20

That is what core skills you will need for your smiter. Which means at clvl with all side +skill quests done, you should have this at clvl 74. Easily doable.

If you get to clvl of 99 that would leave 25 skill points unused and to be placed wherever you would like. This is where things tend to get a bit complicated for some players. I am here to make that a bit easier.

Depending on the purpose of the build PvP, Ubers, or whatever else you like I will give options and reason for them.

Varient #1: (Defensive build)
There is a hidden synergie to the Fire, Cold, and Lightning resist Auras. The hidden synergy adds 1 to the maximum of that resist for every 2 hard points put into that resist aura. With this knowledge, there are 24 points you can put equally between the three auras, bringing each to a level of 8 giving you +4 to the maximum of that resistence.

Varient #2: (Mob control build)
The smiter build is build on the same aura as Zealadins, so a great way to deal with mass monsters is to have your back-up skill into Zeal. You can actually get a maxed out zeal skill with 5 into sacrifice. This skill will allow you to take out mass monsters in groups, while still dishing out good damage.

Varient #3: (Heavy Hitter build)
Charge ... is a underrated skill to many. It is very hard hitting, and can get you close to the enemy in a very short amount of time. If you do this, Vigor Aura is a great way to make things even faster. So, maxing out Charge, and adding the remaining 4 points into Vigor (also a great party friendly skill) will stack the playing field in your favor weather you are going PvP or killing Bosses.

Also helpful 1 point skills that can be of great use.
Meditation - This one point into this skill will regenerate a decent amount of Mana, as well as a small % of life for every 2 seconds.

Redemption - Always handy to use the dead as your lifeline, as well as getting rid of those annoying bodies that seem to get revived. In tough situations, this skill could mean the difference between life and death.

Salvation - If you are low on your resistence, this skill is for you. at a laughable level 1 you gain a additional 60% resist to all but poison. In many cases depending on the gear, you could go from near negative resist to almost maxing them out.

Your choices on skill placement are almost endless.

Gear:
Helm - Crown of Auras, (2x Ber) Guillaume's Face (Orphan set Um or Ber)
Armor - Chains Of Honor, Fortitude, Enigma
Weapon1 - Grief pb (PvP) Last Wish (Ubers)
Weapon2 - Call To Arms (Flail)
Shield1 - Exile Vortex (+resist mod) Herald of Zakarun (Um/Ber)
Shield2 - Spirit Monarch (+Holy Shield Mod)
Boots - Gore Riders
Gloves - Draculs Grip, Laying of Hand
Belt - Verdungo's Hearty Cord
Amulet - Highlord's Wrath, Mara's Kaleidoscope, (for resists) Metalgrid (for def)
Ring1 - Ravenfrost
Ring2 - Bul Kathos Wedding Band, Stone of Jordan

Charms:
9x Palladin Combat Charms
Hellfire Torch
Annihilus
resist/life small charms

The issue with Smiters is that they can not steal life and/or mana from those they kill. With this issue, a Smiter needs to quickly, take out the enemy with as much power as possible.

Lifetap from Exile Runeword, and Graculs Gloves provide the means to live threw almost any and all means of damage.

Crushing Blow is your best friend with this build, as well as damage reduction. Take these into account when choosing your gear.

Stats:
Strength - 65-90
Dex - 125 (for max block or none since AR doesn't effect Smite)
Life - all the rest
Energy - none

With Defience, Holy Shield, and Exile, maxed you will have no issue with getting hit, but, if your more into the defensive role of play use 125 to max blocking at clvl 99.

Merc:
Act 2 Nightmare Defensive
Holy Freeze Aura

Helm - Andariels Visage, Vampire Gaze
Armor - Fortitude
Weapon - Infinity Cryptic Axe Etheral, Insight, BotD

Depending on the gear you have on yourself, your merc could potentially have anywhere between 2-5 auras (Might, Fanaticism, Conviction, Holy Freeze, and Defience) going at 1 time.

As always, comments, questions and what not are welcomed. Hope you have enjoyed this guide and that it has helped you.

u dont need draculs if u have exile

go for Laying of Hand for Ubers and use something else for PvP.

And I havent tried using lsat wish for Ubers.. but the mods look pretty promising =P but Grief works just as much

and if you put 1 pt into zeal, u basically have hybrid of zeal and smiter ahaha (with grief on that is)

and with decent amount of str scs u may not have to put any pts into str =D

The build I go with is a hybrid, zealer/smiter so, I need the graculs, however I did forget to add the Laying of Hand which I added thanks.

I use grief in all cases besides Ubers. Personal prefference really. Grief is just as good, but the Fade mod off of LW is just something I think is very valuable when facing Meph and his insane Coviction aura.

As I mentioned, this guide is not the end all to be all, but a guide to what could be done to fit the players style of playing. I tried my best to put in everything I could as far as gear, options, and what not.

What I try to do with all my characters is get them to clvl 75 before I even attempt to put on the end gear. Doing so, will allow me to use as little stats into Strength, Dex, as possilbe. This allows me to max out my life as best I can before even adding in mods from gear, and charms. I advise everyone to do this for there characters that have a Hellfire torch and Anni waiting.

Sorry I will slow down then, I just figured from what I can tell, the last build guide was made during the late 1.10 beginning 1.11.

Figured some things might need a update.

Yeah that what we need.
Almost all of our guides are 1.10.
I award 50 points to someone who updates one of the old guides. And 100 for a whole new one.

So, how does one go about updating an old one? That would save alot of time since some of them are rather good just needs to have new gear added.
