Skin/model Editing

I've been looking around a lot for a decent website offering the tools necessary to edit warcraft 3 skins and models or even a good explanation of the method, but I ahven't found one so far... if any of you have links to websites that will give me the necessary tools, or you can walk me through the process, it would be a big help...

There are skinning threads somewhere in Map Development except that IceDevil9 took them down to save space.
