Should I bother upgrading to Vista now?

Well, I got a free copy of Vista in the mail the other day, and I have been considering whether to just update now or later. I know there are benefits by having Vista, but I heard there are a lot of software issues as well. SP1 is not due out until the end of the year, and that is far off, but I am pretty impatient. I have a laptop, and I know Aero would suck up my battery life. I hardly take my laptop out to places anyways.

Should I just wait to install it? Has anyone else converted and enjoyed it?:heart

I use it, and like it. Though I would suggest waiting, every component in my PC is custom and designed specifically to support Vista. Unless you want hardware issues, and compadability issues, I would wait till the SP comes out, and they fix alot of the hardware and software issues.

Thanks for the advice. My computer is Vista capable, but I do not want a lot of problems to arise with a fresh installation. I will try to wait until SP1. Thanks again.

I don't necessarily need it. It's jut an upgrade. It's good to eventually upgrade. My XP is working fine right now, so there is no real reason to change things. I just like being top of the line. ~_~

I got some copy from this American Technology business which I never heard of before. I bought my computer from a company named iBuyPower, so I have no idea why a copy of Vista would be from a place like that. They could be one in the same, but I got a random package in the mail, and the only thing inside was a clear DVD case with a DVD with Vista and a Vista authentication code.

Vista is pretty crappy. I'd suggest sticking with XP.

Check to make sure that all your components have vista compatible drivers. If not stick to XP if you need some peripherals. Otherwise my friend has vista, and it owns.

i've got vista and it took awhile getting used to, but now i enjoy, its got a lot of diff little things, really neat too if you got a nice tv, or projector, and wanna hook up media center...only thing i dont particularly enjoy is that it asks me before i do anything...but you can turn it off
