This happens to me sometimes too. I find that it happens when my line is experiencing some bad lag. Usually if I exit the screen and click join again it will clear up. What type of internet service do you have?

It is the latency. The best thing is to shut down any program that might interfere with your connection (Firewall isn't advised to shut down, obviously ;)), but it'll show the games if you just wait a little.

It will be bad for join, though. Lag is awful in SC...

You might have been banned for hacking.

Do they even scan for cheaters in starcraft anymore...?

Starcraft is a poor man's game. A lot of its players still use dialup and many still are from across the globe, causing even lower latency and higher pings. When you try to join the game, it's either your fault because of your connection (sorry bud... DSL is cheaper than AOL here, anyway) or because of the host's connection. If the screen doesn't pop up at all after a while, it might just be a little bug. Rejoin the server.

I have dial-up and I play fine without hardly any lag on any of blizzard's game on battle.net. And DSL is generally cheaper than what I have in the US(I don't use shitty AOL,worst ISP), it's just hard to get dsl in my area and don't want to go through the hassle.(I use msn dial-up 26$ a month, it's not too bad).I mean hell, I run a pvpgn server on my comp without too bad of lag and it's dial-up.

i doubt you were banned for hacking.. you could kill the pope in front of a blizzard staff member running a video camera and you'd never get caught

Getting back on topic, it's mostly Blizzard's fault, and as Master_America said, with a lot of people still playing it on dialup, that doesn't help any when the game list refreshes.

I remember awhile back, I created a HelmsDeep game that lagged out really bad from someone in it. When I went to remake, it said there was already a game by that name. I went to check it out, and I saw MY game on the game list with ME as the game creator, but it had 6r.

It stayed on the game list on USEast for about 4 days.

Lol,4 days.

It's lag, ask Roadrunner for some customer service because when I had Windows 95 back in the old-school days on 56k, that happened often.

This guy hasn't checked back much... oh well.

You know, if you really want to try to get the most out of your 56k connection, you'll probably want to tweak it. Go here and try out some of the tweaks. For a friend, I just applied the Cablenut tweaks that this thread recommends and was able to significantly speed up his connection.
