How do you think Christopher Paolini's Inheritance series got so popular? He basically ripped off LOTR and Star Wars.

It isnt easy to come up with originality anymore.

Yeah that is bull****. She lies about it to cover up the fact she made millions of another guy's idea, which is even worse. Paolini somewhat does the same thing, but its hidden.

However, both have gotten away with it. The fantasy genre well is pretty much sucked up bone dry.

Yeah totally. At least give people some bloody credit.

For instance, I can tell you that I have had a short story published in a collection at my college.

I at least admitted to the class (it was part of a course) that I was a LOTR fan (which was 50% of the inspiration) and that I got my ideas from fantasy video games, themes, and series. Which is what each respected person would do.

However, I didnt mention specific ones because there might be an idea I copied. And I may have not heard of that series/game/novel, which would be diastrous for my reputation should I have had written and published a novel. It's quite a common thing many people overlook.

I dislike Harry Potter mostly because it was corny and it was a children's novel, and most children's novels are created from stolen literature spiced to make it look original. Like how I said Paolini stole LOTR world with STar Wars plot and situation, but the thing was kids at that point wouldnt know what these things are. And that adults or book reviewers wouldnt notice it.

Emma Watson is ok. Yet you could see her evolution in stardom and looks as each movie progressed.

I used to love Harry Potter, but then the entire planet got in on it too and it lost it's appeal. I read other fantasy novels now, which i enjoy far more than the Harry Potter series.
