i just had a hell of a time installing a 120 gig WD drive....and im super stupid for not looking at the manual....i didn't know how to take of the drive cage....so i took off the heatsink to fit the drive in the cage and i was scared shitless i would crack the CPU or something, BUT it all turned out fine *phew*

now i need to configure it so i can use it as a secondary drive....all the physical stuff is ok, (jumpers are on slave) but i need to figure out where i can configure partition styles and drive assignments....any ideas?

What operating system are you running? If you are running Windows 9x/ME, just put in your boot diskette and run the FDISK utility and create a new partition for that drive, then format it in windows and you will be ready to go. If you are running Windows 2k/XP of any type (Server, Home, Perfessional, etc) then just put in your Install CD and run the partitioning tool that pops up, just don't run the install ;) And don't forget that you need to format the partition...if you are running 2k/XP, do it in windows, if you are running 9x/ME, you can either do it in windows or just type "format x:" (x=partition letter). To do it in windows, just go to "My Computer" and right click on the partition of the hard drive and select "Format...". Using the default options should suffice, but beings its a brand new drive, you should be able to click "Quick Format" and not have a problem.

Partition Magic is an expensive solution to a free problem however...but it is rather nice if you are wanting to change your partitioning later on though :)
