I havn't really finished any maps since StarForge came out and I need to know what is currently the best way to protect maps.

I Think if you save as the Final scx on SF it is SCU Protected. It also protects it agained GUEdit and Xtra (from my recent test) But Starforge itself can read the map. WTF?

Then on the other hand if you use GUedit to protect then you solve the SF problem but then SCU can unprotect it.

How do I protect maps right now I must be missing out on something. If SF protects it tell me what you got to save it as or do.?

(This is the second thread I have ever started since I came here lol)

Just use GUEdit, and leave a message in your game with the trigger "never" right in the best place you can put it, and leave the most terrible beastly message you can ever type telling them they are noobs to unprotect your map. It doesn't always work but they should get crap in their mouth for doing that.

Comments are removed when you protect a map with GUEdit,

I thought you guys would know a way to protect now. oh well

Clokr is working on a program called ProEdit. I'm not sure what stage of development he is in, but it will probably be the best protection available (including against SCU and SF) until the protection method for SF is complete. There is a ProEdit thread in the "Editors, Programs, and Utilities" forum on my site.

Try using StarForge the first version that came out. Ask Heimdal to post it.

Off topic: is the program CloakR is working on just a map protector, or a map editor 2?

The problem is...if you know how to trick SCU, you also know how to undo the trick. So I can't tell you, and no one else should either.

Nm i figured it out. It will extract the .chk to a folder called staredit one level up from where the map is. Then u use SCums protector etc. I just protected my Helm's Deep map with it, and it works great!
