Heee, I know that there are already to much threads about this, but I cant let SCM Toolkit work. Because when I try to open a map, it gives me this error:

Run-time error '53'
File not found.

Many of u have errors because you miss mpq2k, but I have this file placed by the map and in the root of the starcraft folder

I also did all the things in the main thread, but it doesnt seem to help...

Does anyone know wich file I miss??

Ugh another loser who can't get scm toolkit to work:

1. Your missing some v-basic runtime files that come with windows that are required for it to work.
2. try not clicking anywhere on the map once it opens a map.
3. Open a .chk of a map not the .scm/x

This may take a few return trips, since it's a unique problem.

Did you place the VBR4, and the RUNPACK1 in the toolkits file, and then install each to default directory, and the toolkits directory?

uhm, i did install the setup of the VBR4 and the RUNPACK1 to the default (system32) and the the root of starcraft (where my scm toolkit is located)
I also tried to make a new map under my maps folder called "Scm Toolkit" and did the same there..

Is is true that you need to open a .chk file??? Because I tried it with some .scm maps...

ok if scm draft is really not working, i have on last way for you to do stack, i do not recommend this as it IS hard.

get SCM Toolkit, that allows you to stack units by placing their X, Y coordinates above each other.

Tass ... that's the problem , he is trying to get SCM Toolkit to work, not the others.

Whenever I ran SCM Toolkit, I never had to open a .chk file, only the .scm, and .scx.

Is Guedit and Stardraft in the same 1.07 SC folder as the SCM Toolkit?
If so, ((though I doubt they are in there)), they may be causing some interference.

Feel free to message me sometime, we can try it step by step and see if we can get it working.
My messanger names are in my profile.

oh whoops you are trying to use scm toolkit??? o lol

Try using SCM Draft :).

My Toolkit is messed up, andi can only open .chk versions of maps.

For scm toolkit to run properly:

1. it must be in a different folder then starcraft (place it on your desktop in a folder "scm toolkit" for example)
2. it must have:

lmqqapi.dll
storm.dll
mpq2k
staredit
Scm toolkit.reg
folder: mpq2k
- lmpqapi.dll
- storm.dll
- staredit
- mpq2k

3.

Before you can open an scm or scx you need to give the
program the location of mpq2k or lmpq. Click options
then browse and open the file for your mpq archiver.
Mpq2k and lmpq are the only ones supported currently
(and the only ones that exist). If you are using Lmpq
or a version of Mpq2k older than 2.0, select the "Lmpq
or old Mpq2k" option. If you don't know what your
version is, leave this setting at its default.
If you are using Windows 2000 or XP (and possibly NT 4),
Double-click ScmToolkit.reg or right-click and select
"Merge" to make it so Scm Toolkit can save its settings
properly.

I think you helped yourself more than anything, but I'm glad you got something to work.

Make glorious maps with your new found abilities, but be aware, you will be despised by all normal map players.

Meh, they'll get over it.

at the bottom of that tutorial thing it says like 4 things why that can go wrong. also, make sure staredit is not open when trying to use scmtoolkit.

now, I have a question. does the 1.07 folder for SCM toolkit have to be named starcraft? because right now every single time I use it I have to rename my starcraft folder to something else and rename the 1.07 folder to starcraft, use it, and rename them both back. this is a huge hastle and I was just wondering if there was a way to do this without naming the 1.07 folder starcraft.

The 1.07 folder stands alone, it can be on any partition, and be under any name.
Once you get the utility to work, you can direct it to your normal maps folder, as long as you have a copy of StarEdit, and MPQ2K in the same folder as the map you are working on.
