Well what I did in 6th grade (my last science project) I went pryotecnics.

Take an orange, Peel the skin, Take a lighter, Lit is, Hold the orange over the lighter and squeeze.

You will see the flame jump since there is a gas in the skin of the orange that is an excellerent.

Gave me a good reason to bring a lighter and play with fire in school.

I did one in 7th grade on "Do Fingernails Grow From the Tip or Bottom" it was really easy, I put a dot on the tip of all my fingernails on the left hand and a dot on the bottom of all of the others then took a bunch of pictures and blah blah blah, with the hypothesis and observations..

do one on bridges(balsa wood i think), i made one that i could stand on, holding my sister, i had the judges (adults) stand on my bridges, all but one broke, but none of the judges were overly heavy, mostly normal, you have to figure out the best design
