What would you recommend as to what i should do about running certain AI scripts to get the computer to start from almost scratch and make a strong base and actually be pretty hard?

I've tried things such as "Expansion - Terrain Campaign Insane Area Town" and the ones for Protoss and Zerg. But all they do is make the peons mine, and then stop....:(

Any hints?

Im not a big user of AI scripts, but make sure that the location is "Anywhere" for the player; if you have the script running at one location that is only where the Comp's base is, it probably will only expand / play there.

Well, it depends.. Id prefer to have Bolt double check this, lol, since maybe the location that the AI Script is occuring at has nothing to do with it.

Also, if the locations cover the entire map (Or close to it), then its basically the same thing as "Anywhere."

Im not good with AI Scripts for melee stuff, What i know is that you must have the AI owned by the comp that uses it. They need a certain amount of minerals and such to start out with. And the location should go over there entire bace and you can only use one. Like you can't do zerg and terrain AIs (i think). I never actually used them lol.

My AI use is pretty much consist of > scroll down to bottom and be like Mmm Enter nearist bunker, or ohh Junkyard dog. And a few others.

Yea.. Ive never constructed a melee map, or whatever it is your doing, so Im not really sure. Just keep expirimenting, I guess.

Actually, I think my location solution is correct; if you set a computers difficulty at a location, it will only do activities at that location. It makes sense, because, say, if you do junkyard dog at a location, only units at that location will move around at random. Maybe its the same thing.

Well i tried it without locations...it did the same thing. I tried adding in some defense, six or so peons, and they start with 150 minerals. And what happens is that they start mining, and they all stop at the CC/Nexus/Hatch after they have gathered some minerals, but two keep on mining. That's it. Oh and the Zerg team builds a hatchery with god knows what minerals, seeing as it costs 300 and i gave them 150 and they make it immediately...

Should i totally make a base and then will the trigger work? I just need to get those god-forsaken workers to...well...work...

AI scripts work only on 1.07 I think.
I'm getting the Racine AI pack right now, heard it was good. Too bad I have to update to 1.07 to play the map.

Sheesh, that's pretty stupid of them, to create a patch that screws up something else. Ah well, thanks anyway.

Yes, try telling the computer to first "Run AI Script: town inner expansion EASY"
Then wait 40000 milli seconds, switch to "MEDIUM" Then tell it to RUN INSANCE SCRIPT.

That should make what you want.

That is EXACTLY what happened to me when I first started experimenting with the AI scripts. You have to make sure the AI Script trigger is for only ONE computer slot when it asks who you want the trigger to be for and then make the location at the base of the computer. It has to be the same race as the computer otherwise it won't work.

The custom AI scripts do the following: the computer will need only some workers, a Townhall and nearby resources and will start constructing a base.

The campaign ones are completely DIFFERENT. These require your to already have preplaced their buildings and they will just build a few units here and there, and will occasionally replace lost important buildings.

Expansion will build expansion units (lurkers, valkyries), while the AI scripts without expansion only build if you played the game in regular starcraft. Of course I assume you only need the melee scripts... As for the others "Zerg Mission Blah" I haven't really experimented with them, but they need preset buildings AND the AI scripts will automatically give them starting resources.

HOPE THIS HELPS. HERE'S A MAP IF YOU NEED MORE HELP.

Kudos to Revelade & idoL, thanks for the tips. I actually got them all to mine! They make a decent amount of miners, but they don't build any more units/buildings! I have given them a small starting point, such as a Spawning Pool or Barracks, would that get in the way of the AI Script? Because nothing else is happening besides building miners.

Yeah, for about 20 seconds, then i looked at the map through SCXE and checked out the triggers and locations and went from there. I don't think playing the map would've helped all that much, just finding out the locations and triggers is all you need.

And yeah, they all mine, but they don't build a thing, Protoss sent four Zealots, which were dead easy to kill, other than that, nothing else happened.
