For those of you that already know the answers to these riddles, please don't reply to them. Or PM me the answers if you want to be Mr./Mrs. Smarty Pants and not ruin the game for others. This is for the benefit of those people that haven't read the book these are from.

Alright, I'll post a riddle, and once someone guesses the answer, if they can't think of one, I'll post another. Here's the first one:

What has roots as nobody sees,
Is taller than trees.
Up, up it goes.
And yet never grows?

technically the process in which our bodies break down oxygen does kill us slowly over time, they're called free radicals and they damage our cells from the inside out
but it doesn't explain the kills laughter part

nothing ends life?
nothing kills laughter?

how about time? or an invisible sock full of quarters

seems like death, you can treally smell it, it ends life, kill laughter, because if someome close to you dies you are feeling verey bad. if it fills an empty hole, then i can understand that if something was in that hole, it died and death fills the hole. kinda logical isnt it?

Bjornita got the closest with shadow. The answer was Darkness. A lot of good guesses though. Okay, on to the next one...

Alive without breath;
Cold as death;
Never thirsty, ever drinking;
All in mail, never clinking.

Heh, and yes Nts, I do know where these are coming from. Shhh! Don't spoil it for the others! ;)
