erm...no sir...lol that is a waste of a machine. pardon me as I laugh in your face.

It takes almost nothing to run a dedicated server. All you need is a blazing fast internet connection (t1 preferably ;)), probebly around a pIII 800..not sure it only takes around a 350 to play smoothly, server should be around an 800 for it to be smooth...and around 512-1024mb of ram. The only reason that ram is needed, is because serving is a highly ram intensive process.

one more thing, hard drive. get a computer with a clean install of windows. install cs...then install your antivirus, then install anything you need, such as something for the internet, stuff for cs, etc. a 5400 rpm hard drive is fine really =\ but id rather enjoy the speed of 15,000rpm SCSI ;) but most arent that rich, stick with 7200rpm. I don't know why maniac said 40 gigs though...i used to run a server off of a 13gig hard drive and it was pretty fast (LAN server btw, but that doesnt matter). I mean, the only thing you can possibly do that will take up space is make demos of every game..and you would have to have a LOT bigger than 40gb...but there is my little tips ;) enjoy

I would actually get the better processor too, whats the use of having 1024 ram if you have a 800 mhz processor? THATS a waste of a good comp (err ram). just even so, your better off not getting all that ram, and not having to get T1, and just look for a low priced hosting server. dedicated really sucks. not to mention the rest of the computer you have to buy.

the speed of the processer doesnt change how your ram is going to work...your cd burner maybe, but not your ram. you just took the credibility out of your whole post.
