Hi,

I thought this would be the best place to ask this question, so I am hoping somone can help, or else I might have a pretty sad kid on my hands.

I am reformatting a friends computer due to a variety of problems, and they have a 9 year old boy who is quite distressed, because he will lose his saved games. Due to the fact that they are saved, I think it may be possible to back them up and restore them once I reinstall the game.

So what I need to know, is which files need to be saved, and how do I restore it? I haven't even looked at the game, so I do not know anything about it, but I am hoping this will be pretty easy as long as I save the right stuff on to an external drive.

I really hope someone can help.

Regards
Kathryn

c:\program files\diablo ii\save

copy all those files and when you reinstall just put the files back in that folder

well if he plays on single whats the point? he can always hack his items again... or if he plays on b.net then he shouldnt have to worry... all he need to rember is his account and password... or if he doesnt know how to make items... jus move the char file in the save folder into a floppy.. am sure it will fit...

Thank you both so much, I just rang him up and told him, and he is VEEERRRRRRRYYYYY pleased. You have both made his day and mine (I am not much into making kids sad).

Thank you again

no, you dont have to save those mpq files, they're on the install disk aswell. Simply copy the save folder that you see in your diablo directory onto a floppy disk and you're fine.

cos he can...LoL. Thank you to you all and have a great new year. My new years resolution is never to double post again. But for now, I am off to find a watering hole to spend the remainder of my break.

Sorry for double posting again, but I reinstalled the save folder back into the directory and it didn't work. The files are in the folder, but opening up the game doesn't show any saved files. So much for my new years resolution....
