Or at least, I'm trying to be. I have already succesfully(IMO) modified a Golemz map and am working on modifiing a Maze D map.

Right now though, I am having some trouble.

I want to almost completely remake this Maze D map because, well, I'm tired of it. My problem is that I can't make squared off terrain. I have heard that GuEdit will help me do this(along with protecting my map), but I can't get GuEdit to install, I have even installed that java thing that is needed.

Then, if you have played maze d before, you would know that it is nearly impossible to win if someone leaves. And not a single maze d map has that cool thing where, when someone leaves, their buildings and units are split evenly around. I have checked a few maps and can't figure out how to do this. In my last try, purple had blue and teals forges, along with his own, and me(red) had my own forge. So blue and teal couldn't create cannons. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm trying to get colors changed for all players, is there a certain editor I need for this?

Thanks in advance!

Ok, this thread basically answers all your questions:
http://www.battleforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15582

ScmDraft:Alpha can place square terrain
You need to install java runtime 2 in order to work guedit
When someone leaves and the dead units are distributed evenly, the player 12 trigger is being used.

That thread up there has download links to all of those files.
But I'll individually post the download links.

Guedit 3.6 Alpha
This nifty program can do a lot of nice stuff that every map maker needs. It can protect maps, set upgrades to instant, save triggers as text, create square and tweaky terrain, change the map terrain, and change player's colors.(can have all players to be black)
ScmDraft:Alpha
This program is basically an advance Staredit Program. It has features that Sc X-tra Editor doesn't have and doesn't have features that Sc X-tra Editor has. Most people use this program to Stack minerals and other stuff. Another usefull feature it has is that it can create 1x1(Square) Terrain.

Player 12
This trigger provides all the possible conditions and actions that applies to Player 12. Player 12 owns all the neutral units and player 12 gets all units owned by a player who has left or has been dropped. You can use this trigger to give all the units to the human players, kill the units, give the player minerals for each dead unit, etc.

Scm Draft for square terrain, Starforge for color change (Or SCMDraft, if it is reliable enough) and look at the Trigger Part in SunkD10Advanced with the Campaign Editor. You'll find out how to give players units when someone leaves.

My main problem was that I can't get GuEdit to run in the first place, even though I have java runtime installed. I actually did read that post, I just couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, and then I completely missed that p12 thing. :( Thanks though!

You will need to post more information about that guedit problem.
Like did a window pop up and said that you couldn't do something?
Or like you double clicked on guedit, and it said something when i tried loading a map.
We need more information.

Could you post the exact directory of where you installed it?

Actually, I got it to work. Guedit that is.

Now, a few more questions.

I looked at the colors list from a differen't post, tried using them, and about 90% of what I used was different from what the post said. Is this common? Am I stupid?

Then, I also, got the P12 trigger going, haven't tested it yet, seeing as it is getting very late, but at least it looks right.

Should it look like this?

Conditions:
brings at least 1 of any unit to "anywhere"

Actions:
Give 2 any unit owned by _ at "anywhere" to current player
Preserver trigger

That right?

Thanks everyone.

I have beaten Maze D alone several times :)

yes, that is right eiddie, with the trigger applying to the players playing (you don't want computers having the left units, lol). you may want to do a give 2, wait 500 milliseconds, give 2, wait 500, give 2, wait, give, wait kinda thing so it goes faster, or either that or do a hyper trigger if you have no other triggers that require waits.

Thats a very big feat(sp?)! Especially on the one I am modifying because there are 35 levels. Of course, for some reason the original creator(or some modifier) set a lot of the middle levels to be VERY easy. So, I will change that and make it even harder.

As for the waiting, thanks, I wouldn't have thought of that! :D

You are all a very big help, thanks!

dang

I have the triggers set up like this:

Players-
x Player 1
x Player 2
x Player 3
x Player 4
Player 5
Player 6
Player 7
Player 8
All Players
Maze Builders
Lab Mice
Enemys

Conditions-

x brings at least 1 of any unit to "anywhere"

Actions-

x wait for 100 milliseconds
x Give 2 any unit owned by _ at "anywhere" to current player
x Preserver Trigger

__________________________________________________

Thats what I have. All "x"'s are check marks. Should I add a check mark next to "Maze Builders"? Did I put anything down wrong? Thanks again.

Im guessing your condtions are "player 12 or _ brings at least one of any unit to anywhere". If it is your fine.

I would delete your wait 100 milli seconds it servers no purpose. And also if you check the force there would be no added effect. Checking the force box is a short cut to checking all those players boxes

it dosnt make it, but it supports is, when you open a square tile map, you will see it in squares, and work fine. so all you have to do, is open a ST map, and make what you want and save.
