Question regarding closed Battle.net and saved char files

Hi again everyone.I am a bit confused with this closed Battle.net and your own saved char files on Diablo 2 LOD.On closed battle.net, do you start from scratch at level 1 and your char info will be saved on their server,without given the chance to save your char on closed battle.net on your own computer or do you carry forward your own saved char files to the closed battle.net?

and as for open battle.net, do you carry over your own saved char files on Diablo 2 LOD?

Hmm, how to put this, (I think) in old OLD closed bnet, they saved them on ur comp, but now they save them on their servers, due to the fact that some people found out how to edit the char files and have relly crazy hacked items (open b.net). Open Bnet is in no way any part of bnet actually, all it does purdy much is give ur comp a list of ips to connect to. Open bnet uses the files on your comp (the single player files) and loads them into the game.

In a nutshell: Closed are saved on their servers, Open on your comp.

FYI: You might want to direct posts like this to the Newbies Only part of the Diablo forum, it garentees you will not get flamed and that there are no stupid questions (like when someone asked where the tomb of tal rasha is ).
