PvP vs. PvE/killing

What are the main differences other then the obvious?

I know what they stand for and it seems like a dumb question but mine is Can you still fight and kill people in PvE.

Another question is how is the fighting done? Are there two different kinds? Like agreed dueling, and walking up and stabbing someone in the throut? Possibly?

Anyway The thing that brought this up is I was wondering if you can walk up and kill players in PvE without getting ****ed by the WoW staff.

Theres an honor system, so killing people much lower than you will give you a bad reputation, eventually your own town guard will even attack you.

What is the main difference between PvE and PvP?.
I dont see a difference, you can fight players in both, kill monsters in both, and do quests in both.
