PvP CS Zon Guide

PvP CS Zon Guide

Basics
Well this guide is for a java zon for pvp that uses CS as the main skill to kill her opponets. Its a very good skill for dueling and for pvm.

Skill Distribution

Charged Strike: 20
Well dum dum what do you think we will max? :p

Lightning Fury: 20
This skill is a very VERY good at killing crowds thus, the cs zon can be somwhat usful in PvM. And of course its a senergy

Lightning Strike: 20
Same as CS but in a weaker counter-part. This too is a senergy.

Dodge, Evade, Avoid: 5
This is all you really need if you have the gear that you are REQUIRED to have. (see gear section) You may need even less than this You gear will add +lvls to these skills. Anymore than this is wasted points

ALL Passive skills: 1
These are some useful all round skills.

Lightning Bolt: the rest
Just put the rest of the points here to boost cs damage.

For those of you who think you should have at least 1 good non-lightning skill..... leave. They eat up points and are usless to this build.

Stat Distribution

Strength: 120
This is all you need to wear your required gear (see gear section).

Dexterity: enough for max block
How much is enough you ask? Well, you need 182 TOTAL dex at lvl 80 for max block. So depending on the gear you will have to adjust accordingly.

Vitality: the skys the limit!
This is the main stat you will be pumping up. If you have nowhere else to put stats... put them HERE.

Energy: none
Don't need it.... mana pots will take care of this.

The Gear

The following items YOU MUST HAVE before even thinking about makeing a cs zon.

Weapon: Titans (eth or non-eth)
Shield: Storm Shield
Belt: T-Gods
Gloves: any IAS gloves will do
Helmet: Shako
Armor: Good defense armor with life
Boot: any fast run/walk boots with life/ resits are good
Rings: BK ring/SOJ, Raven frost
Amulet: +2 to all skills or

The following would be VERY good to get and make your zon godly.

Weapon:Upgraded Eth Titans
Shield:SS with Lightning facet
Gloves: +java skills with ias/life/resits
Helmet: Shako with Lightning facet
Armor: Enigma/CoH
Amulet: Perf Maras or goldy rare +2 to zon skills
Inventory: Java GC's and FHR charms with life or resists

It is recommended that you get a Wizspike and a wand with lower resist charges.(wait, and i will explain why)

Dueling Stratgies

For every class, try to position your self so if the person tries to run away the cb's will be going in the same direction they are and chance are they will die. :)

Melee char in general:
The object is to kill them before they can land a hit on you. That is easy with cs because cs is dosen't rely on AR to hit. If they have high resits/absorb, whip out your lower rests wand and zap them. This will help alot in bringing them down

Caster chars in general:
Your job is a little harder with these guys, cause they can teleport. Luckily if you have enigma you can too. Just tele to them and use CS or Lightning Fury. Slow missles is VERY effective verses most casters. This is where a WIZSPIKE will come in handy. Use your wiz spike for fast cast to get the caster with slow missles then take them out. But, beware when using this against hurricane druids.

Specific Char Dueling Strategies

In this section ill tell you how do deal with those all-so-common builds that are a pain in the ass to duel. Im only gonna list the ones that i think should be mentioned.

Hammerdin
Boy, these guys are a pain in the ass but not undefeatable because as of 1.10 you can dodge spells! If you didn't know, hammers come from the shield of the pally so keep a little to the left of theit shields at all times. If they just stand there, approach them so you won't get hit, stand to the left of thier shield and attack. If they tele, just fire off some lightning furys at them and when they get close to you zap them.

FOHer
Yet another gay build but defeatable. Summon a valk to distrat his fohs and tele (see why enigma is sooo useful?) next to him and zap him. don't bother trying to absorb him cause he will kill your resists, and you don't have enough resist gear to counter conviction.

Trapsin
Depending on the char, these can be really ez or really hard. For the easy ones, get max lighting resits and absorb thier attack and just kill them. For the hard ones you should stilll get max reists but you tele to them before they can lock on to you with their mind blast. If they do your good as dead. Its good to summon a valk and/or decoy to destract the traps while you tele to the assassin

WW Assasins
I haven't found a really good way to kill these cuase of thier damn fade they use. Just don't let them hit you and use lightning fury to kill them.

Sorcs in general
If its a sorc its more than likely to shoot somthing that can be slowed.. so feel free to do so. :) They should be a piece of cake after that, and its fun to watch them cry.

Blizz Sorc
Now THESE hurt. Your best bet is to run around avioding thier blizzard and when you see an opening to tele to them... do it! Btw don't even bother with cold resits.... you'll still die cause of pierce.

Hurricane druid
These are also tough. They ususally are surronded buy summons so use your lightning fury to kill them and then go in for the kill. They take a few more hits than others because of thier cyclone armor. If you seem like your not getting anywhere just use lightning fury on them and avoid the hurricane

Bone Necro
UGGGG.... I hate these guys. Luckily for you you cna slow thier bone spear/spirit. After they are slowed just tele to them and zap thier a$$. They may switch to teeth but if you have enigma you can just tele right over that.

I think 8 in critical, dodge, avoid, and evade is necessary, your gonna need those 50% chances in passives :p

Don't forget the +2 from Titans and +2 from shako, and possibly +1 from the SoJ. I have only one in the dodges on my zon, and I expect to have a +2 Ammy and a +1 Helm, and possibly a +1/2 from gloves, which will cover putting the additional points into them.

more percentage = ownage, you dont know how much this zon dodged my Fire ball once, she ended up killing me =/

And I think Bul Cathos > Soj for fighters, they need vit more than mana

counting your plus skills from items, anypoint spent over 5 is wasted.... after lvl 14 you have to have 2 points to gain 1% in any of those skills

On my zon, I'm maxing out Lightning Fury, Charged Strike, Power Strike, and Power Strike. All remaining points will go into either Critical Strike or melee dodges.

If you have enough +skills to get the dodges to where they start to diminsh, why put points into them?

You can do well with others. My Zon is PvP, but will be using a little different gear, while having about 40-50% in the dodges with only one point. Also, you can't say you HAVE TO HAVE that gear, because you will be doing enough damage already.

There are some errors, imho, in this guide.

1) Why 120 str? The max str you need is 156 for storm, and with thundergod, enigma you have tons of +str; if you use thundergod + CoH you have +40 str; not to say that if you use Mara + Annihilus you can have +25 str more... You also suggest Titans' which give +20 to str...

2) Titans are good for PvM. In PvP, you must use +4 Thunderstroke with CS; that javas are faster than titans' and have the -15% to enemy lit res, which can really help.

3) Why Shako with facet and not Griffons' eye with facet?

4) Amulet with +3 to java skills does not exist.

5) With the final gear, you need at least 7 / 12 / 7 points in the 3 passive dodging abilities.

These are the basical things; when I return l8er, I'll go more in-depth.

1) this guide was made for ppl who don't have godly gear, of course you must have common sense to see that and not put as much strength
2)same as above
3)yet again same as above
4) oops i guess i didn't think about that... no wonder i coudln't find any >_<
5) yes but 5 points is all you need to put into the skills with the gear above

after reading your post i decided to test the griffion eye in zonfire editor. I completely built it to my gear above, but i put my griffion eye (perf with a perf light facet in it which would equal 25% ligth damage ) on and wopptiedo i got 600 more light damage but lost 150 life and mana and 10%DR. And concedering how rare and valuable a perfect griffion eye would be not to mention the facet... its better to just have a shako. (this test was done with not java gcs). and i don't even have to test thunder stroke... same damage just with -15 enemey light resits not to mention it takes away from your passive branch so less avoid/dodge/evade. And if -15 light ressits is enough to kill them... they shouldn't even be dueling.

-15 resists with thunderstroke, -25 with a perf faceted griffons (I had one in Ladder, so it's not so rare...), -5 more with faceted storm... i think that -40 to enemy lit res is not so shitty in pvp, it forces the opponent to wear more resist / absorb gear if he does not want to be pwned (if you duel a CS zon without 135 total lit res and 95 max you loose 99% of duels) and to sacrifice some damage or life / mana...

However, a CS zon is not a great char for PvP, cuz she has to go always melee to make tons of damage, but going melee with a barb, a Pally or a WW sin is deadly in almost all duels for a Zon...

Yes, I'm with djnat on this one.

Inept (Fugg here) has a CS PvP Zon with +4 Thunderstrokes, 4 * 5/5 Facet Armor, and a good 5/5 Facet Griffons, and does about 4600 Charged Strike. Yes, they can't duel ranged members, but just about any melee character = 1 hit.

On an another note, do you see how many posts djnat has? He doesn't have 3700 like me, but he's on the strat team....omg......he sinned and he needs to be burned.....omg
