Insider info shows Sony set to spoil Microsoft's party

16:55 Oh how we love this industry sometimes. Just as it seemed Microsoft was set to sweep all before it and make E3 2005 the Xbox 360 show, Sony will strike back next week at the industry's annual jamboree by unveiling the first actual PS3 unit to an eagerly waiting world.

Speaking on conditions of strict anonymity, a trusted insider source has revealed to C&VG that Sony will unveil an actual prototype PS3 unit on their next-generation booth and that rather than just a mock up, it will be a near final design of the next generation of PlayStation.

It's been such a closely guarded secret that the appearance of PS3 has been deliberately kept off any show program sheet and will apparently be kept under strict guard by members of the LAPD.

Amazing stuff, because it was widely expected that Sony would focus on PSP and its current generation this year, before trying to steal next year's show with the PS3. But it seems Sony will deploy an actual PS3 unit to steal some of the Xbox 360's thunder.

meh, PS3 like the xbox 360doesn't have me excitied or "wanting more".

It is safe to say both Sony and microsoft have achieved at great lengths to dilute the gaming industry with half assed games thrown together with a nicepackage to sell and make money. I hope they both fall. Sega needs to get back in the game, Sega made good systems regardless of consumers.

True, but I dont see Sega coming back to the way they were. I still plan on buying the PS3, xbox just sucks.

If Microsoft gets more Japanese support for the next xbox they may put a good dent in the PS3s profits.

yep pictures of the system and some kind of video demo. on specs, it seems that ps3 trounces the xbox360

for more, aesthetically speaking, the system looks kinda plain. (while the xbox360 awkward)

Out of the box, the PS3 will have the capability to support seven Bluetooth controllers, which can be used for nearly 24 hours before they require charging. Later, pictures of the controllers themselves were released, showing their almost boomerang-like shape. It will also have six USB slots for peripherals: four up front and two in the back. As rumored, it will also have Wi-Fi connectivity to the PSP, which can be used as a remote screen and/or controller.

I Mean The Xbox 360 is just a computer stuffed into a smaller space and is made especially for gaming. my one friend looked it up he really wants to get it cause it's way "leeter" than his computer. But i think PS3 will dominate over Xbox 360 because noone said that Xbox would play the first Xbox's games did they?

I think the 360 will be backwards compatible, I read it somewhere at least. Odds are the PS3 will be.

See. but i still don't own a Xbox and i'd just have to by new games, so i have playstation2 games so i think i will by PS3 cause it looks way better.

yea i am thinking of getting a ps3 as well but i am thinking about a xbox 360 as well but mostly on the ps3 coz i got a ps1 and ps2 and i hate the xbox's controllers.

the ps3 is sopose to have more gig power than the xbox 360 right and a built in modem? or is it still seperate?
