Proper Fighting Style Question?

What is the proper way to fight? Should I focus fire on hurt guys? (using ALT key) And then move out my own hurt units? Or is it better to use the attack key and AIM right in the middle of the fight. ( then the AI will automatically choose who to fire on). I am aware of using control groups and units.

Depends.. what units your using. With archers.. and mgs/dryads, use the MGS to tautn and block for the archers and dryads. while your archers /dryads take out the hero then start working on the major meat of the group.

But Thats just for ne..

Univversal:

Focus fire to kill the hero first. That keeps his experience down and gets a high powered unit out. Then work on the damaged units he has first b/c every little bit that he can't attack helps.. immensely.​

"Unite Against One" is a good tactic against Broken units (Paladin, Mountain Giant), because you arent spreading your fire out too much.

Don't focus fire on a hero with melee unless you manage to surround or get ahead of'em. Focus fire with long range if you've got a meat shield. If you focus fire on a unit and they move it out dont chase it. If they start running away pick off closer or weaker units.

focusing fire on the hero at the start isnt necessarily beneficial... Some people know that their hero is gonna die..hence equip them well and micro them well....especially when the enemy has a battle hero at level 6....These heroes take lots of time to kill and you may sacrafice a lot of ur army!!!.....HOWEVER most of the time focusing on the hero at the start is good..... Especially when you have a spell like Storm bolt or deathcoil so you can immediately kill them if they try to come back(usually try to run away becoz of low health) and cast a spell.

pretty much the same deal. warcraft imo is an EXTREMELY conplex version of "tag". you want to smack up a unit and when it runs away attack another and repeat.

So "hurting" a unit does not level your hero or give him any experience points? Just killing units will level your heros?

Yes, Killing is the trick.

Yep yep.. Thats why you micro troops.. so enemy heros don't gain much exp.​

i jus try to kill as efficiently as possible.. and kill many as possible (i.e. entangle)

yea entangle rules units more then heros which is sometimes good.

Entangle is one of the most powerful hero/unit killers in the game. It is way better than sleep.

its easy...

1) weak units. like ghouls, archers, HH, footmen. you attack them first.

2) alt key and pick up any weak units..including summons. they give nice and easy xp.

3) at last the strong ones.

also if you have an immobilising spell, entangle, sleep, SB, bla bla. do it and surround enemy hero. spank him bad. he will either tp ..either die.

dont focus on heros unless they come close enough. NEVER!chase them.

hmm id say

entangle, sleep goes to enemy's strong units (abom, knights, you name it)

since entangle and sleep last for like 2 seconds to heros, theres no point in doing this unless u are trying to catch the hero and kill.

You can entangle or sleep heros after killing strong units... I would have to say kill strong units firstwith YOUR strong units.. ur ranged units can either kill weak ones (unarmor mostly) and focus fire on heros...

Attack move your melee units, and proceed to focus with any ranged. This is the rule of thumb, but does not always hold true, and is usually not the case in a pure mirror match.

Ghoul vs Ghoul is the prime example of this. Once you pull out Ghoul Frenzy, their speed (combined with Unholy) can allow you to focus fire a unit or hero with a quick surround.
