Problem with SP2 installation

I have been trying to install Windows XP SP2 and PITS v2.0 to my computer and it gives me an error message about my ASN1 affecting my extraction. To make matters worse, I have had slow internet and random disconnections on my computer, could this be the work of a virus? If so, I need a trial verson of a program that can erase them; Norton deleted a majority of things, but the little things were left behind.
