I run d2 lod with d2 loader, and i applied and refilled my cd key file properly so that showcdkey shows the cd keys that i actually want.

Now, these cd keys are from a diablo battlechest, so i have no idea why it wont let me log onto battlenet, or even open battlenet (if theres a difference). It says that the cd key was intended for another product, and i think my scenario is a bit different than others posted here because these werent fake cd keys.

here is my reg file for the cd keys:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Diablo II]
"owner"="Darth Killyourself"
"d2cdkeympq"="d2sfx.mpq"
"d2xcdkeympq"="d2char.mpq"
"d2cdkey"="classic cd key would be here"
"d2xcdkey"="lod cd key would be here"

What can I do to fix this problem?

I had made sure that I put the keys in teh right lines of code, and this is why I, along with my friends, am so confused and am seeking help in a forum.

The lod key is right next to the lod segment of showcdkey.exe, and the classic is in its right line as well.

So since the keys are in teh right lines of code, what else would you advise?

Try changeing the names of the following:
"d2cdkeympq"="d2sfx.mpq"
"d2xcdkeympq"="d2char.mpq"

Change them to :

"d2cdkeympq"="cdkey.mpq"
"d2xcdkeympq"="cdkey.mpq

and then copy your realCD-key file into the one where the refiller is and rename it to Cdkey.mpq then run regestry file then the loader or whatever way its done and put the new cdkey.mpq file in your D2 directory and make shure to add -cdkey.mpq to a Diabloo II Shortcut. Hope this helps

Im a tad bit confused about your instructions, savage. So ill just reexplain my situation.

I play d2/lod with d2 loader. It has always worked perfectly. I never had the actual d2 or lod discs. everything was on a set of burned discs for me. as i said, they have worked perfectly. my friends dad just bought my friend a diablo battlechest, but my friend never opened it ebcause he already had teh game for a few years (i guess his dad didnt know).

Hearing that I had started playing d2, my friend opened the battlechest and gave me his cd keys for me to use. I took the numbers, and put them in the proper lines of code in the auto-cdkey.reg file. I refilled them and checked with showcdkey.exe and the keys corresponded to the correct game. WHenever i try going into battle.net, it says that the keys were for another product.

things i have done already:

changed the originaly lines of code to:"d2cdkeympq"="cdkey.mpq"
"d2xcdkeympq"="cdkey.mpq"

checked to make sure that the lod key was for lod, and that the classic key was for classic.

checked my internet

checked showcdkey.exe

I have checked other threads and guides but they did not help, so I hope i am not wasting your time after i have tried to fix it myself.

i had lots of problems with d2loader also, what worked for me was uninstalling d2, delete the directory then install it and in the d2loader read me just go step by step and read carefully, that always works for me cuz i **** up a lot on stuff like that so i just start over

i just had to reinstall diablo (deleted it by accident cleaning the comp out) and i had the exact same problem, but i wasnt using d2loader

so i dl'd the loader, and changed keys and it worked fine

just redo you rd2loader keys (dont put the -'s) and it should work.
