Sounds like you need a new video card. What is your current video card?

Well I suggest you buy a new videocard then. I don't think you can run Half-Life 2 on the SiS chipset.

Yeah, I had that problem trying to start EQ2 on my old Geforce 2. You need a video card with DX9 compatibility. The FX line or 9700(?) minimum I do believe. Not that it takes the power of the card...it just needs the compatibility. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, the FX5200's are dirt cheap. They are horrible cards and my old Geforce 2 ran circles around it...but the compatibility is what matters.

i get the same error

i get the same error even with my video card.
i have a visiontek xtasy 9200 256mb pci
how can i stop this? and i have direct x 9.0c

Woot i have that same problem. its your drivers.. what ever current ones you put on, ****ed it up. reinstall source. :rolleyes (thats how i fixed it)

Must be DX 9 compatitable

Video card recommendations: 9600+ for radeon and higher than the 5000 series of nvidia.
