I try to install WC3 ROC on my computer and I type in the cd key and it freezes. What's wrong? I know that the CD key is right because it worked on my old computer, and I know all of my active X is updated, what's wrong?

CD scratched? Viruses? Too many programs hogging system resources when you are trying to install? Try making a copy of RoC. If you legally own the game, its not illegal to have a backup copy, and if all else fails, there are programs to make a virtual cd (lets you copy the files off the CD to your computer, and "tricks" the computer into thinking those files are actually on a cd) Try some of these, also the tried and true "restart pc and reinstall" method may work. Good luck!

it's kind of scratched. Would that cause it to freeze up?

Try to create an image of the cd without skiping error reads.

I know you can burn a copy of RoC, but you will need to use a progrm that, like stormhawk said, will skip over the error reads or bad sectors on the cd. Use Alcohol 120%, it made a perfect copy for me, however it won't work for TFT, as it has different type of copy protection.

It would take deep scratches, hell loads of smudges, and lots of programs to cause installations to freeze like that. MY Diablo II LOD was worn and had this problem, so I rubbed the surface with paper towel after watering it down a bit, and it worked just fine. Windex also does wonders (especially to PlayStation discs :)).
