Has anyone bought the eguide that Prima has out now? I was wondering what you think about it. I have read on Prima's website that they will probably charge $9-14 (US) for updates to this guide. Thats just crazy. I can see if Arenanet puts out an exp pack and they have to make huge changes to the guide, but for small changes that Arenanet makes to the game over time I can't understand why Prima whould charge for an update (other than just to make more $$$).
I have also read they have had alot of mistakes in the guide on its release (i.e. they have not keep up with arenanet's updated and changes to the game). Does this mean that if I bought it whould I be charged for an update just to fix their screw ups? Who know!.

Imho, I believe that this guide is a waste of money. You can find enough info about the game (or anygame) on the web without having to pay for the info. Besides, It should not be too long before you will be able to download it for Winmx or edonkey for nothing.

Stragety Guides for games like this are useless. Cause eventually a patch will come that will change it all slowely. Example, Healing Signet used to make you take double dmg while casting it, now its just -40 armor.

how else do you think guildwars is going to keep this game free?
Not sure what you meant by that, but if you are saying that Arenanet is making revenue from Prima selling this guide then you are probably correct. I am sure they are getting a precentage of the sales from the paper and electronic guides that Prima is offering. But I still dont see how that is going to determine wether or not GW will be a PFF game.

All I was saying is, that if you pay the $14 for the electronic guide (E guide) you should not have to pay an additional $14 everytime Arenanet patch the game and Prima has to make small changes to the E guide. Example... A small patch comes out make minor changes to a couple of skills. Prima changes the eguide to note theses changes. To get an updated version of the Guide you have to pay another $14. THis is dumb. If Arenanet charged you $50 for every new patch that comes out , whould you still play the game ? I dont think so!!

So why buy this guide?

BTW, I made this thread just to give you all something to talk about. I find the conversation in this forum to be lacking.

every 40 armour effectively halves the damage you take, therefore -40 armour is the same as double damage. And are they going to make you pay to update your guide? I doubt they can if you don't want an updated version of it.

Right, I know that, but if you're rolling on a warrior with all 80 armors, its 400 armor -40, which would be 360 armor. Previously, it would take away 200 armor, leaving you with half.

They changed it so where you can use it endgame a lot more without facing getting rhomperstompped by a 400dmg meteor.
