Poison nova

Last time I played d2 I had a friend who made this completely kick ass pvp poison nova necro. I couldn't figure out how I kept getting killed by poison, you know, usually it takes you down to 1 hp and then you can heal, but he said that poison nova does physical damage or something when it hits you.

Is that true? I can't see any mention of it in the skill. But if it only does poison damage how do you explain dying from poison nova?

Not sure...it can kill anything other than players, including mercs...I always thought players could survive poison at 1 hp.

However, he may have had something built on or added in that added physical damage to his nova...not sure...

Yeah, apparently nova does enough damage when it hits to kill you if you're at 1 hp. So if you have maxed lower res, and max poison nova, it's actually pretty effective. I also read an interesting guide that suggested using a fire golem. Poison nova gets takes you down to 1hp and the fire golem's aura finishes you off.

So I'm probably going to be making a poison nova necro for pvp and cowing. I'll let you know how it goes.

Poison Nova necs are my favorite build, they can potentially do the most damage out of just about any build in the game, just takes some work to get them there.

Ive never seen a PvP nova Necro, i always thought that with good res you could with stand them long enough to take them down.

Eric, in LOD pNova doesnt do the most damage The most comes from Lightnings sorcs. You can get around 40k max. But in nez Pnova can get deadly.

I think that maxxed lower res gets -75 to psn res. When I was dueling this guy in norm mode, I had maxxed res, but after he cast lower res, it took two novas to kill me. When I make the character, I'll be faceting everything that I can as well. So at least -15 to res just from facets.

Yeah, you'll pwn. Poison Nova is the second best skill in the game. The absolute best, Corpse Explosion, isn't very good PvP...

I think most pvp necros in 1.11 go bone actually.

That's because the base skills are better for starting out...the only really good poison skill IS poison nova, and it takes a while to get it up to par...the points into other skills are all but wasted except to expand the skill tree and have a couple synergies. The Nec poison skills tree is a lot better in Nez, with a couple of added things, plus the simple benefit of so many more items to help out with it.

Bone skills work pretty nicely together, because they're almost ALL useful.

Yeah, that's true. Frankly, I've never seen a necro use poison dagger. That's the most useless shit ever. But if you level up teeth and its synergies, it's pretty effective.

Anyway, if the character goes well, I'll post a guide. It's going to take awhile to level, because apparently I'm the only person on this site who consistently plays on useast, making it kind of difficult to get help from anyone.

Lol...I never really understood server play...it seems so pointless and frustrating...I played a little while on a few Nez servers, but I really never really got into it as much as single player and TCP/IP.

Server play just opens up more resources for you to use. The chances of the exact items that you need dropping when you play single player are very rare, but multiply the chances by the thousands of people who play online, and you might actually be able to build a solid legit character sometime in the next few years. To be honest, when I play online, unless I need help with a quest or I'm helping with a quest or I'm trading with someone, I usually just play in password protected games by myself. So it's really not that much different than single player, it's just that the resources are available if I need them.

Ahh...gotcha. See, when I played single, I did so completely legitimately until I pretty much had made the game my bitch. The only reason I started using hacks was to get a bigger sampling of what Nez had to offer, because frankly the server options for Nez suck, and there is so insanely much IN it that you could just play legitimately for a lifetime and not find all it contains.

Man, I was SO against hacks when I started playing D2. It took Darkmatter weeks to get me to even use Maphack, and another couple weeks to get me to stop feeling ashamed of it. Seriously, when he told me he used Maphack, I was like "OMG THAT KILLS THE FUN OF IT! THE LEVELS MAY AS WELL NOT BE RANDOMLY GENERATED ANYMORE! CHEATER/HAXX/NUB!"

And now look at me, lol.

But yeah, when I played legit, I just piled the man-hours into constant runs to find kewl stuff. I seriously played enough for 10 people, and I found a shitload of awesome items.

See I would do that too, if d2 were actually a good game. Blizzard really shot themselves in the foot when they started cracking down on maphack and when they made it more difficult in 1.10 for players to level quickly. B.net is about getting the best items in the shortest time, not about traipsing through the ****ing flayer jungle or some shit looking for a brain so you can be 1/3 closer to killing a boss that has an incredibly low chance of dropping something that your character might actually need. When Blizzard tried to force people to play through the game on b.net, I think a lot of people realized just how mind-numbingly awful the game was in the first place.

I seriously vote you get Nez. I just can't even tell you how much better it is...and I'd totally play TCP/IP with you legit.

The most fun I had in nez was duping exp bags. I got to level 100 something on the server, and then everyone was like "I'm not gaunt running for you anymore. It's more fun if you level up yourself" and I'm like no it's not, this entire game is bullshit.

Lol...I got to level 350 or so legit on the server, haha. It gets tedious after a while...I did SO much Gaunt running.

But seriously, come back to our fold, I'd totally chill with ya. I'm on a lot more now, and I'd be willing to help you unlock some of the incredibly cool shit Nez has to offer.
