Perming items by socketing

if i trade for a duped fathom with no socket....add socket...add facet...is it perm'd for good? or if i trade for a faceted one...revmove it...add a new one...perm? im thinking that would change the item id.

Hmm. Im not sure. I know that if you use duped runes in a runeword then they runes become permed. I actually think it might work. Yes.

nope i doubt it and the only reason it comes perm'd is because when u make a runeword the item id changes, its how all the stores make there perm'd runewords, dupe a weapon with all runes in it exept one then add it and its permd

only thing i ever lost due to a dupe was..... a ber, i was about to make infinity and it was gone :-\

last i checked, no, a dupe does not become permed froma socket. its still readable as a dupe.

Example: back in 1.09's ruststorm [right before 1.10 came out] -all- my dupes were deleted. and most every weapon i had was socketed by me with a gem [classic D2, not xpan] so the game can still tell its a dupe.

meaning, that if it can still see it as a dupe, it will be deleted.

yea, i learned this the hard way... lost a btals, no it does not work even if you socket it with a perm item, every item has a specific code if the code is not recognizable by the server then it poofs

question: if you take two duped (or 1 legit, 1 duped) runes, such as 2 ist runes, and you use the cube recipe to upgrade them into a gul rune, will the gul rune still poof through normal means and/or the ruststorm? Always wondered that.
