Parent problems

my parents are divorced, and my dad is so much cooler than my mom. i hang out with him about once a month, but my mom hates him so much and makes it hard as possible for me to see him. i really want him to have at least half custody, but my mom gets all pissy ever time i talk about it and just says every family is different over and over. what am i supposed to do?

Depending on how old you are your dad could take your mom to court and you could testify you wanted your dad to have custody.

But word to the wise I used to want to live with my dad because he was so much cooler than my mom, but come to find out when I moved in with him he lost that coolness and became as strict as my mom. He is so cool because he only gets to see you every once in a while.

Yes, my parents are divorced, too. When i see my dad, hes a fun person. But if I stay with him for a week or two, he's quite strict, and not the same.

yeah, that was what i was about to say. if you are 16 or older, you can legally choose where you go. you can even go as far as have your dad have full custody.

Well, when you spend a lot of time straight with a person all of thier little flaws start to bug you and your flaws start to bug them but when you see someone like once a week you seem to get along with them a lot more.
Look if you feel you're not having enough time with you're dad you need to talk to you're mum, but in a rational way not a rebelious teenage nag. You need to tell her that it isnt fair on either you or you're dad, and you need a father figure. Even if they are divorced and they totaly hate eachother, you love them both and not too have either one of them in you're life would drive you crazy.

The thing is, I fight with domy dad a lot, amd he has annoying qualities, but overall he just seems funner than my mom.

if thats truley case and it isn't just hes alot more enthusiastic since he doesn't get to see you much you gotta talk to your mom and tell her to at least split time half and half and if she doesn't agree to discuss it tell your dad the whole situation and see what he says/wants to do about it.

Lol shafted, if I did that my dad might let my mom have full custody just to shut me up......but seriously, Deranged, there are a couple of points to consider:

-How close does your dad live? Within driving/walking/bike distance?

-If so, whats stopping you from just going over there anytime you want?

-Who gives a shit if your mom gets mad? Just explain to her that even though she hates him, its not a reason for you to.

-Take it from me, the less you let the "custody arrangement" get in the way of spending time with your parents, the better relationship you'll have with them.
