With the drummer here for good it seems the drums have taken more of a death metal turn.

Plus with their new guitarist the solo style (of second guitar) is a bit different.

I missed their tour. Hopefully they'll come closer.

Musically it's different from a lot of Opeth's other material. I like it though.

My favorite Opeth album still ramains as Blackwater Park.

To say slayer is better than Opeth..... Eh I'm not a big punk fan as that is what they started off as...

Slayer peaked with Reign in Blood and south of heaven.

Slayer started with a lot of hardcore punk influence..

That's been acknowledged by the band members..and it's obvious in the sound..

I've never been a big fan of slayer though. Old slayer or more recent.

Well the whole "thrash metal" thing was an offshoot from hardcore, as alot of music especially was in that period.

yes one of the gutiarist were influenced by punk and the other loved judas priest and heavy metal like that but they were thrash metal no doubt
